Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a poem previously used in this group. Only one submission per person is allowed.

Your poem can be of any length!

This week’s topic is: One Fine Day

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Most of all have fun!

Most days are good
I don’t care about the weather
As long as I can open my eyes then everything is fine
I love it when everything goes smoothly
I love being surprised
Most people are jerks and I’ve accepted that
(I can’t please you and I refuse to let you ruin my day)
On fine days I like to go for walks
Just me, my camera, and sometimes my cat
(Though he doesn’t like being on a leash or near trucks)
On bad days I surround myself with projects
If I stay busy I can forget why I’m angry
(And I stop looking at pointy things)

Poet : Edward Davies

It seems some leaders of the world
Want all their people armed
Believing that, by having guns,
No people will be harmed

It seems a little misconceived -
Like giving children crack
Will stop them from developing
A monkey on their back.

Some leaders thing that stabbings would
Be drastically reduced
If only harder weaponry
Were far more mass produced

Because as everybody knows
You’ll probably survive
From being shot right in your face
Instead of simply knived

If guns are such a harmless thing
Then explain, please, why for
Are they quite often utilised
As a weapon of war?

And so I ask, dear president,
If forced to choose, which one,
Would you use on a terrorist
A knife, perhaps, or gun?

Your answer would be gun, I guess,
Because they’re far more deadly
You wouldn’t use a gun to prepare
A vegetable medley!

Carrying guns – stupidty!
They really aren’t required
Imagine all the carnage if
One single bullet’s fired

If everybody has a gun
And one goes off in error
It wouldn’t take a second for
Everyone to think “Terror!”

And then the others follow suit,
Prepare their trigger fingers
And fire where they think they should
No sensible thought lingers

The smoke will clear and everyone
Will be as dead as dead
Because they couldn’t get a simple
Message through their head

If NOBODY possesses guns
Then NOBODY gets shot
It’s not a difficult idea
And wouldn’t take a lot.
