Anyone else catch the first episode of this?

https://io9.gizmodo.com/james-cameron...

It's got a pretty good variety of people.

David H. (farrakut) I've been wanting to watch it, so I've got it saved on the DVR for the next time I have free time to watch TV. Never at this rate.

Trike | 8962 comments I haven’t watched it yet, but I’ll get around to it.

What was Cameron’s story? “Steal ideas from others, profit”?

He didn't talk much. He asked a few questions, and a lot of it was clips of directors, actors, authors talking about sci-fi. This one focused on alien creatures, and focused a lot on Spielberg especially.

They do talk about Avatar though.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 4279 comments Ah, "Dances With Aliens." Think I'd rather watch the Iron Fist miniseries again than any Cameron product.

Did I mention I was at Carolco when we made T2? A great day. Too bad the market changed, that place was a blast.

Trike | 8962 comments Watching now. Pretty good, but it’s very basic. Sci-fi 101.

Louie (rmutt1914) | 885 comments I suspect it will be similar to Ridley Scott's docu-series, Prophets of Science Fiction.

I was just happy to see a bunch of SFF authors pop up.

I forget them all but I know Annalee Newitz was on a fair bit and N.K. Jemisin was on VERY briefly.

Incidentally I asked Ms. Jemisin on twitter if she'd be recurring on the show and she said "You know as well as I do". So I guess we'll see.

There were several others who I recognized but am totally drawing a blank on now.

David H. (farrakut) Wasn't Ken Liu on it? I remember his name in a promo.

David wrote: "Wasn't Ken Liu on it? I remember his name in a promo."

Yes. Totally blanked on him too.

He was talking about story of your life when they got to talking about Arrival.

David H. (farrakut) Really? 'Cause Ted Chiang wrote that one. Though Ken Liu is a HUGE Chiang fan (there are legitimately at least 2-3 stories by him directly inspired by Chiang).

God damn it, I'm so bad at names.

Yeah. Ted Chiang was on it talking about Story of your life.

I think Ken Liu was also on it talking about something else. But I might be wrong.

I'm certain Ted Chiang was on it.

Don't ask me for other names though, I'll probably get them all wrong too.
