Jenny (jennywilliams88) | 774 comments I know this wasn't tagged as such, but it did involve a lot of family drama as the blurb and my review will hopefully show.

Blurb: Having left the Faroes as a child, Jan Reyna is now a British police detective, and the Islands are foreign to him. But he is drawn back when his estranged father is found unconscious, a shotgun by his side and someone else’s blood in his car. Then a man’s body is found, a shotgun wound in his side, but signs that he was suffocated. Is his father responsible for the man’s death? Jan must decide whether to stay or forsake the Faroe Islands for good.

Review: As a crime novel, it's not one of the best I have read. However there is a lot of family drama in it as Reyna doesn't know why his mother moved to England when he was 3 - we get hints of ideas about why as the book progresses, but then she also commits suicide when he was young too so it's a bit 'up in the air'.

As well as this, one of the lines of enquiry involves (view spoiler), and this suspect is also Reyna's half-brother!

Overall 4 stars for the crime aspect, but probably rounded up to 4 1/2 stars for the family drama!

Anita Pomerantz | 7320 comments Yeah, I think you definitely hit the nail on the head when you call this family drama. I read the spoiler, and that pretty much clinches it.

Sounds like a perfect fit, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
