DHASG May Challenge

Introduction: The fifth month of the year has arrived. It's May. May you have a wonderful May, including beautiful spring weather, good times, and great reading!

Rules:


1. Any DHASG member can participate in the challenge.
2. Books must be read between May 1st and May 31st.
3. A book may only be used once in the challenge.
4. Please sign up and list your stats or link to the completed stats listing when you finish the challenge.
5. In your stats, include book title, author, date read, and how it represents the specific part of the challenge.
6. Enjoy and happy reading!

Levels:

1. Bountiful Bouquets: Read 9-12 books.
2. Fragrance of Spring: Read 5-8 books.
3. Blooming Blossoms: Read 3-4 books.

1. May Day: May Day is an ancient holiday to celebrate spring and the coming of summer. Read a book that features some sort of celebration.
2.Brothers and Sisters Day: Don't forget to cherish your siblings on May 2nd. Honor this day by reading a book about the special relationship between siblings, i.e., a story centered around siblings or that features siblings heavily in the story.
3.Kiss a Baby Today!:May 2nd is also Baby Day. Read a book where a baby or infant is a huge part of the narrative.
4.My Heart Flutters: Bird Day is May 4th. This is the day for lovers of birds and to celebrate our avian species. For this day, read a book that evokes a bird species in some way: a character or author has a bird name, a bird is featured on the cover, flight is an aspect of the story, wings are present, etc.
5.Cinco de Mayo: On the 5th of May, the Mexican forces defeated the French and ended their colonial rule. It's celebrated in Mexico and the United States as a day to appreciate Mexico and Mexican heritage. Use this opportunity to appreciate Mexico, its culture and heritage with a book you read this month.
6.Space Day: The first Friday in May is a day to appreciate space, the physical universe defined beyond the earth's atmosphere, according to Google. Read a book that takes place in Space or has subject matter pertaining to Space.
7.Free Comic Book Day: The first Saturday in May is a day where you can go to most comic book stores and get a free book. If you can get a free one, read it for this challenge. If not, read a comic book or graphic novel anyway. Another choice is to read a book based on a comic book, or one that has a storyline that brings to mind a comic book.
8.Have a Drink on Us: For Beverage Day on May 6th, we take the opportunity to kick back and enjoy a beverage of your choice (it can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Read a book to represent this day. You could read a book with the name of a beverage or has a cover where someone is drinking or has a drink on the cover. Yes, that includes water, milk and juice.
9.No Diet Today/Eat What You Want Today: May 6th is International No Diet Day, an opportunity to appreciate the body you're born in and to acknowledge that we all come in different shapes and sizes. Read a book with a character who struggles with weight issues and learns to appreciate themselves as they are. Alternatively, May 11th is Eat What You Want Day. You can read a book that is about the food and the delicious offerings available to sample.
10.Teachers Are My Heroes!: The Tuesday the first full week of May is the day to honor teachers. It can be a thankless job, but let's celebrate these unsung heroes. Read a book that features a person who is a teacher, professor, governess, or tutor in some discipline.
11.You're Entering the Twilight Zone: May 11th is Twilight Zone Day. This is a day to appreciate the weird, mysterious, surreal, or even scary, in honor of the classic tv show. Read a story that fits any of the above classifications or could be an episode of the Twilight Zone in its own right.
12.Mother Love: We can't do a May challenge without featuring this tried and true holiday to celebrate Mothers, birth or otherwise. Mother's Day is the second Sunday in May. Let's honor mothers by reading a book that appreciate/celebrates/features/spotlights mothers or mother figures in some way.

So I was working on the June challenge, and I realized all the graphics I made are for July! As a result, I won't have the challenge ready until tomorrow. I apologize fervently!
