The MishMash Challenge is made up of the collective input of our members.

How it works:

Every week from now until 1 June each person will be allowed to nominate two tasks that will be included in the challenge. If we need more we will allow additional nominations until we have a total of 25 tasks.

Need some inspiration? Take a look at the previous challenges for ideas. You may nominate the same or similar tasks if you want.

Rules and Guidelines:
* A task can only involve reading 1 book. So, for example, "Read a trilogy" is not a valid task.
* No task should force members to read any specific book, author, or genre. So no tasks like "Read a romance novel" or "Read a book from the Discworld series".
* Make your task do-able for everyone. Tasks that require members to buy expensive new books or obscure titles will not be allowed. The same goes for tasks that, for example, require an author with the same name as you, or a character who lives in the same city as you. This is easy for some and impossible for others, so be considerate.
* Choose tasks where there are lots of options available. No one wants to have to choose from a list of ten books to do a task, especially if those books aren't to your taste.
* Books must be at least 150 pages long to count for the challenge, so don't nominate tasks that require shorter books, like graphic novels.

The challenge starts on 1 June, and lasts for one year.

Have fun!

P.S. You still have a month to go for the 2017 MishMash Challenge. Don't forget to cross off the tasks you've completed:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Tasks so far:
1. Read a book with a cover that is only red, black and white (grey is acceptable also).
2. Read a book whose author's first name and surname begin with the same letter.
3. Read a book with a title of more than 5 words.
4. Read a book where the words of the title all start with the same letter, such as Love on Lavender.
5. Read a book by an author who was born in Africa.
6. Read a book by an author who is related as family to another author. To complete the task, indicate the second author and type of relationship e.g. Mother/daughter.
7. Read a book set in space.
8. Read a book whose main character has a brother.
9. Read a book that is the third+ book in the series (so not 1 or 2, but 3-100)
10. Read a book that is written by at least 2 authors.
11. Read a book that involves pets (any animal pet)
12. Read a book that has a rebellious teenager in it. (Main or side character)
13. Read a book on your TBR list that you added in your birth month (could be any year since you joined Goodreads).
14. Read a book by an author who became known within a certain genre, but has branched out to another, completely different genre e.g. J.K. Rowling who started out in Fantasy and then added crime, Anthony Horowitz who started with Children's books and then added crime, Carl Hiaasen etc. To complete the task, state the original and subsequent genre. It cannot just be a separate series within the same genre, it must involve an actual change in genre.
15. Read a book by an author who uses a nom de plume/pen name. If the author publishes under his or her own name too, the chosen book must be published under the author's chosen pen name.
16. Read a book that features a (major or minor) character with a mental disorder.
17. Read a book which is a retelling of a fairy tale
18. Read a book based on fact (it can either be a non-fiction book or a fiction based on fact)
19. Read a Humorous book
20. Read a book by one of your favorite authors (But not a re-read)
21. Read a book with a one-word title e.g. "Dikeledi"
22. Read a past Goodreads Choice Awards winner (any year, any genre)
23. Read a book where children are important
24. Read a book with a 3 in the total page count e.g. 153 pages, 237 pages. List the number of pages to complete the task.
25. Read a book which title starts with a vowel

Hi Shawn

The MishMash challenge is based on tasks and the participants can choose which books they want to read to fit the tasks.

You can have a look at the previous MishMash challenges to get an idea of what tasks we've done before.

You can nominate Red Dragon for book of the month for June:
