Do the female characters (especially the lead) stop being so stupid?

I don’t want any spoilers but I’m trying to decide if I should keep reading. It is almost painful how ignorant the female characters are portrayed so far. Most books I. This genre have strong female leads but so far these women are far from that. I would like to finish the book but I not sure I can if the females keep being portrayed this way.
