Marc Nash (sulci) | 98 comments I agree sometimes it can be akin to prose poetry or lyricism, but it can also allow for huge playful assaults on language too. I've written stories where Google Translate has got to work on a text. I've written stories where single letters change in words to form other words, yet the context shines light on both the word produced and the word mutated from. I've written a story where a plethora of parentheses determine meaning. I don't think any of these conceits would work across the length of longer work, but over 500-1000 words they are perfectly sustainable.

So flash can also be about language as well as love. Language that fails us as much as language that succeeds in its avowed aim of communicating.
