20 years ago i read a book, (pls. excuse the few details i remember!), involving a sister who disappears on the night of a ball, beside a lake, late Victorian era. Not Kate Morton, but author had a similar voice. Ive looked for years on blogs, can't find it. Thanks for any help.

Hi, thanks for replying. As I remember, it takes place in England, wealthy family, large manor home, country setting. The younger sister goes missing. I believe the younger adored the elder sister, and possibly it was the younger sisters first ball. Tone, mystery, romance. Thanks for the pointers on questions, I've looked everywhere, for years!
