Kate (kathrynlouwca) Hello Readathoners!

It's our favorite time of the year. Time for the start of another 24 hour readathon! I hope you've got your book stacks and snack stacks ready, because we're in for a long but fun day!

This year around, there are several changes so I wanted to take a moment to let you all know what they are, as well as share important links. First of all, make sure you check out the main website to be updated every hour on what is going on in the Readathon world. There will be Hourly Posts by co-hosts. The website is: http://www.24hourreadathon.com/ . If you haven't officially signed up yet, that is where you can do so.

This year instead of having a new mini-challenge posted every hour that only goes for 3 hours, ALL of the mini-challenges are open and available for participation throughout the entire readathon. So do them all at once or spread them out and do them throughout the day as you need a break or ignore them altogether... the choice is completely up to you. The link to the mini-challenges can be found here: http://www.24hourreadathon.com/april-...

Another fun thing that is happening on the main page of the 24 hour readathon is that as a group of participants, we are going to try to read 1 million pages. Pretty exciting, right? A database has been created for you to log your pages read. And don't worry if you're an e-book reading or an audiobook listener. Just use your best guess at the number of pages read and enter them into the log. That can be found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FA...

Now, if you've looked around the Goodreads Group at all, you know that we have some fun things planned for this readathon. First and foremost is that Gabby and I are hosting a Group Reading Scavenger Hunt. We are so excited about it. We came up with 30 categories and the goal is to try to hit certain goals as a group pertaining to those categories and the books you read today. We're hoping the categories are broad enough that anything you choose to read should fit in somewhere. And books can count for multiple categories. The Folder for the Scavenger Hunt can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

We also will be having Hourly Discussion threads hosted by our lovely co-moderator volunteers (thank you so much to everyone who volunteered! You guys are rockstars!) These threads can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

If you don't have a blog and you want to have a place to post updates or do mini-challenges check out our Blogless section and open up a thread of your own. Feel free to use it in whatever way suits your purpose: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Before you go away, take a moment to watch the welcome video that Gabby put up for us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDaew... Isn't she awesome!

Be sure to check out our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dewey...

Thank you so much for taking a moment and reading all this. I know it was a lot!

Happy readathoning!
Kate

+1 (particularly since I suffered an Internet outage this morning and usually get lost in a book well past when I meant to do a mini-challenge).
