Lyra perked up when a customer entered, she watched the customer and held a gasp when she saw the girl flew around the shelves tops.

Lyra slowly moved around the counter and towards the aisle with the girl, "Excuse me, uh, miss. Is there anything I can help you with?" she asked shyly.

Lyra walked back to the counter, "Even deities must obey rules." she began to tap on the cash register, "otherwise, no one will believe that they are worthy of being followed if they are seen as negating common courtesies..." she glanced over at the girl.

Lyra took each book and typed in the price of each into the machine, "Which region of the Deity land do you come from?" she asked as she started on the last two book prices, "different areas get different discounts. Also would like to sign up for our newsletter? You'll receive an announcement on all our new shipments as well as an additional 15% off ancient texts." she recited everything her brothers told her should a deity enter their store, "There's also the Deity Membership Card, where you can open an account and just swipe upon leaving and bypass this whole charade, your account will be billed and you get points towards your next purchase." she finished and stared at the deity.

Lyra smiled and taped in the discount, she pulled out a scroll, "Sorry, my brothers have the applications printed this way. apparently, many deities find it...nostalgic..." she unrolled it and placed a regular pen next to it, "sign your full title at the bottom please." she then started putting the books into a bag. "and your total will be...$46.96"

Lyra didn't say anything, but while the girl was distracted she noticed a pile of books that weren't on their appropriate shelf. She flicked her hand upward and the books floated upwards, and as she moved her hand in different directions each book flew off into those directions.

Lyra looked back at her taking the card and swiping it, the machine beeped and error sound. Lyra glance at the card and swiped it again, getting the same beep. "Perhaps a different card?" she said sheepishly, she actually had no one how a deity would react knowing their card was denied, her brothers just replaced the front window last week.

Lyra swiped the card, it went through (bearly). She then pressed a few more buttons and printed the receipt, which she put int the bag with the books and the pamphlet containing the membership card, "There you are." she smiled and handed it over.

Lyra laughed a little, if she only knew. "That's true," she glanced away, "but then again, not all dieties are as understanding either."

Lyra took a step back, 'crap, I spoke my thoughts again, big brother's gonna be mad...' she thought. "that's...uh...not what I meant..." she laughed nervously.

She coughed and smiled up at Lyra. "C-could you do me a favor and look in my backpack, for my inhaler?"
message 30: by Cathrine (new)
Lyra straightened and moved around the counter to her, she opened her bag and rummage through it. She pulled out something looking like an inhaler, "this it?"

Lyra did a couple steps back-and-forth in around her, then quickly ran to the back of the shop. Diety or not, she didn't like seeing people suffer. She ran back with one of her brother's over-sized sweatshirts, "here. wear this while I look for a blanket." she said before racing into a small room in the back and up a set of small, well-hidden, staircase.

Lyra called out from the top of the stairs, "hang on..." after a few minutes she comes back with a blanket. "yeah?" she huffed blowing a stray hair out of her face.

Lyra froze, "umm..." she started and looked up at the ceiling, "I don't run the store..." she whispered and looked at her, "you could fill out an application and I can talk to my brothers about it." she gave a sheepish smile.

Lyra bowed in apology to the new customers, "welcome..." she then grabbed Nikki and pulled her around the counter, "I'm sorry but you can't yell like that..." she opened the office door, "wait in here and I'll have one of my brothers come in and talk to you."

Lyra went back out and worked with the customers, after a few minutes she makes a call on the phone next to the register, "it's me. there's someone in the office asking for a job. could you meet her?" after a long pause, she hung up the phone and poked her head back in the office, "one of my brothers is coming to meet you, he'll be here in a few minutes."

Lyra shook her head, "you wanted a job here, right? my brothers own the store, so they have to interview you for a position." she smiled, she did the same thing when her brothers brought her here for the first time so she knew that it was just a small dose of fear. "Don't worry, brother Jimmu's really nice." Then she left leaving the door open enough for her voice to be heard through as she began checking out customers.

Lyra heardher but kept working, then the sound of her voice began to have a fonversation with a male's.

Lyra and the male talked for a few minutes before footsteps walked towards the office. There was a knock and a clam male voice, "excuse me." The door opened and a smiling face stood in the doorway. "Hello, ms Diety, I'm Jimmu. Owner of the shop."

Jimmu laughed, "Just Jimmu, please," he guestered for her to sit as he went around the desk, "my sister tells me you're looking for a position here." He sat down in a chair and smiled warmly.
