R. Garcia Vazquez (rgarciavazquez) | 2 comments I was previously informed that "When it comes to editions that have already been published, we can’t actually overwrite the existing cover images. This is because we don’t want to delete an image that a member might have on the book they purchased. We like members to be able to add the exact edition they own to their online shelves."

If the argument is that owners of the book will be confused, then there should be no issue changing the cover on an eBook First Edition that, as yet, has had no purchases.

The softcover version (CreateSpace) of this book will be published in the next two weeks. The content is identical. Having a First edition (softcover) and Second edition (eBook) for the exact same content would make no sense and create greater confusion for people who purchase the eBook and softcover.

The new cover has already been posted on Amazon: No Other Pearl

To avoid confusion for readers and anyone concerned, wouldn't it make more sense to simply delete in Goodreads the cover of a book that currently has 0 sales so that what readers see on Goodreads matches what they see when they click on the Amazon link?

Thank you kindly for your help,

Z-squared | 8580 comments I noted someone has made the cover change for you against policy and I have reverted it. On Goodreads, once a book is available for sale with a given cover, that's considered published, whether you sold any copies or not. When a book is rereleased with a new cover but the same ASIN or ISBN, we add an alternate-cover edition, which I have done for you here:

You as the author have the ability to set the new cover as the default. Just follow these instructions:

Thanks for the guidance.
