Aubrey (korrick) | 2004 comments Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontë, 1847, England, NOVEL

"...Family, class, and fate work cruelly against them, as do their own jealous and volatile natures, and much of their lives is spent in revenge and frustration...Even as you condemn Catherine and Heathcliff for the pain they inflict upon themselves and others, it is hard not to listen in awe when Catherine cries out, "I am Heathcliff! He's always, always in my mind; not as a pleasure, any more than I am always a pleasure to myself, but as my own being.""

Aubrey (korrick) | 2004 comments I am submitting my review for this work: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Alex Wuthering Heights takes place in a dark, tiny, parallel place, like one of those rolled-up dimensions string theorists like to talk about. It's black, and melodramatic, and strange, and brilliant."

(I know I don't have to submit excerpts for these, but it's kindof fun doing it - and this way people can only click on my review if they already agree with it! Much more convenient for people.)

Aubrey (korrick) | 2004 comments Heh, convenient indeed. However, I am a fan of unwitting clicks on a dissenting opinion that forces the reader to reconsider, so I will forgo replicating your excerpts in the main post.

Alex Good point. Would you like me to take down my little summaries? (It's your show, after all!) Or are you okay with people seeing an excerpt if they feel like scrolling down?

Aubrey (korrick) | 2004 comments If people make the effort to scroll, they will be rewarded.

Aubrey (korrick) | 2004 comments Thanks for your review, Samadrita.

Vipassana | 4 comments I wrote a review for this one, a while ago. I fangirl-ed a bit and wrote more about Emily Bronte than the book though. - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Aubrey (korrick) | 2004 comments Thank you for your review, Vipassana. All variations are welcome.
