good point

I see your point... though I also see now that my vote isn't truly necessary lol
I set my goals for 2019 - very similar to last year's. With the new season about to begin, I thought I'd have a better idea of how the year would start.
Thanks, Katy. Yes, everyone is fine here. I've seen some scary pictures up there, but Ketchikan is 700 miles from Anchorage and completely safe. How is motherhood?

Oh good, 700 miles feels nice and safe :) I couldn't remember where you were! Motherhood is wonderful and intense. Feels a little like an earthquake actually :) I'm very happy and also very tired!
I'm glad to hear you're safe, Elizabeth! I'm planning to be more active this season now that things have calmed down a little bit in the new city. In looking at the tasks, I'm really excited for this season! Already have lots of ideas and can't wait to start reading.
Rebekah wrote: "Was worried about you. Did you have to worry about tsunami watch?"No, the warning was for southwest of Anchorage and we're southeast.

How true that is!

How true that is!"
And hours of housework not done!
Just in case anyone has some confusion about 10.8. The task is for authors not on the group's November author list. If an author is on that list, the author's books will not qualify for that task.
In the 2019 Personal Reading Goals thread Lagullande wrote: "Allow myself to buy as many books as I want to even if my TBR goes up and up..... because I will be supporting authors and publishers and I'll be happy about that."I probably didn't have as noble a reason as you have, but I've done the same. I have lots and lots on a so-called wish list and I mostly restrict my book buying to those on that list, but I know that I've strayed a time or two in recent months.
Elizabeth (Alaska) wrote: "...I probably didn't have as noble a reason as you have... "Reason, aka "excuse"!
And just to show I really mean I'm not going to stress over adding to my owned/unread books ...I just bought two Poirot's that were on Kindle special and weren't even on my list. But I'll always want to have access to Poirot and my library didn't have these two titles!

Well done, Elizabeth!
Might be interesting to see how much our TBRs have increased by this time next year.
Is there an easy way to make a list that I could send in an email of all the books I read this year? Just the titles and authors....not the other info with dates and ratings.
Ed wrote: "Is there an easy way to make a list that I could send in an email of all the books I read this year? ok...thanks.
Ed wrote: "Is there an easy way to make a list that I could send in an email of all the books I read this year? It exports everything to a spreadsheet, then you could sort by read date, delete the non-2018 ones, then delete all the columns except for Title and Author. Copy what's left to your email and send.
I haven't given it a go but it's what I would try if I wanted to achieve what you said.

This isn't super easy, but it is a possible way to have all of your info on a spreadsheet. At the bottom of your My Books page is an Import/Export option. You can do an export to a CSV file. It takes a while for it to generate, but you can then save it in your documents, upload the file to Google Drive, and open with Google Sheets. Then you can sort it by Date read and just copy/paste your 2018 books and the other columns you want from the big sheet onto another new sheet. The only slow part is waiting for the list to generate.
Just out of curiosity, why did you want to email it? What will that do for you that looking on your screen does not?
By the way, exporting your My Books on a somewhat regular basis is a good idea anyway, as a backup, just in case.
I'm here to report a first since I joined RwS. I will be traveling to Arizona tomorrow through late Tuesday to see family (including, of course, the baby). I am not expecting to have internet access. Please be patient with Kate if you have questions, as she doesn't sit by the computer all day. ;-)

Elizabeth (Alaska) wrote: "Just out of curiosity, why did you want to email it? I just got back from Egypt 10 days ago...and about to go see family in NY for the holidays.
As for the list, I wanted to email the list to my sister who asked me what I had been reading this year. I know I could just send her the link to my GR page...but wanted to do it in a more succinct way.
I'm a little late, but enjoy your trip Elizabeth! I hope you'll have a wonderful time with your family!
I cannot imagine going from Alaska climate to Arizona in a few hours. But I know that is not the issue, and you will have a lovely time I hope xx
Rosemary wrote: "I cannot imagine going from Alaska climate to Arizona in a few hours. But I know that is not the issue, and you will have a lovely time I hope xx"It was nice being in the sun and 70 for a few days. Home now, and raining, then 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow. It's nice to be home. ;-)
(And might I say that the baby is the most marvelous creation since her mother and grandmother?)
Entering your book claims continues to provide entertainment. Today, Don's claim for The Devil's Hook is entered in the contest for best chuckle, when the author describes herself thusly:"Pearl R. Meaker is an upper-middle-aged, short, pudgy homemaker, mother, and grandmother who in 2002 decided to be a writer. "
