Carey Decevito (italrt4u) | 16 comments Hi!

I'm in the process of cleaning things up and now that my book covers are official (I'll apologize now for the mess), I was wondering if it is at all possible to get rid of editions. I'm looking to do it to for each book in my The Broken Men Chronicles series.

Is there a way this can be done? It just seems ridiculous to have 3 different Kindle versions, when my books automatically update (it's set up that way) with my vendors. The only thing I'm looking at keeping is the paperback because, clearly, those don't change.

Please let me know what you need to do just that.

Many thanks!

Goodreads policy is to keep all published covers on the site, as users want to shelve the cover of the copy they have. Instead, we add an alternate-cover edition. See http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1... and http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/85....

This is why your books have multiple Kindle editions, etc.

As the author, you have the ability to change which edition of the book is the default, which will come up in searches by title and show on your author profile. Here's how: https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/3...

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Not completely on topic, but not everyone with a kindle gets the automatic update (it's a setting kindle owners opt in or out of). I like manually choosing whether I want the updates or not so have that setting off. So if I had bought an older cover edition of one of your books, that's the edition I will have even if you update all your vendors.

There very well could be members of goodreads still with the older kindle editions. Some readers care to catalog certain editions/covers; some will just use whatever you set as default. Some might have used the older covers in various trivia challenges, lists, etc. that require certain cover items. Those will not likely be pleased to find a cover yanked off their personal books shelves or to find themselves disqualified from a challenge because the cover got overwritten.

Keep in mind, vendors/booksellers want to be updated to show only the currently available for purchase books. Goodreads is not a vendor/bookseller -- think of it more as a library who is quite likely to have lots of uncurrent books ... or the difference between your vendors having product pages and goodreads having data pages.

Don't assume because your vendors get updated that all your readers do.

Thank you! That's what I've been doing (changing the default book, I mean). I'll leave it at that then.
