Awwwww, maybe you'll get one soon?

Well... I confess that a lot of fun has been involved with rule making.
There will be a lot going on... and some unprecedented things too.
to avoid teams to get too impatient, sign-ups will be delayed
BUT
We might start posting rules and activities along the way, so we can get all questions out of the way, and maybe round some corners, in case initial vision doesn't work that well with time-zones and teams and whatnots.
I must confess that 5 years of team challenges later, I have no clue why it took us so long to came out with the Harry Potter theme. But, better late than never, and we do have a lot of experience now to make it *Really* memorable.

Plus, is Harry Potter.... there's nothing more magical than that.

Yep. And Tri-Wizard Tournament. And House Points. And... Uhm. Better keep some things hidden

Looking forward to that Sonia!
I think it's definitely about time I jump back into NBRC challenges. It's been a while.

Okay... now onto more sirius stuff... I'm using my account because I'm too lazy to log on with my alter ego. Since nothing is official yet, there is no harm down.

TT was the first tower teams, and the basics are still the same... weather you read 12 or 1200 books in a year, you can join. If your goal is just to read some books with a team, that's it. You can do as much. No fuss, no complications, just tell us you're alive once in a while and tag your books on the designated shelf and that's it!

We'll have Harry Potter buddy read threads that will be open from challenge start to finish date. These buddy reads will be granted more points and include all 7 books from the series, The Cursed Child, and the movie script from Fantastic Beasts.

Teams will be Hogwarts characters that can be assigned to a House. It can be a student (past and present), a teacher, a ghost, anything. We'll have a field on the sign-up thread for you to put your house to help with sorting. (And a link for the pottermore quizz)
Each member of a house will earn positive and negative points. Then we'll average the points to see which house will win House Cup.
Example:
Hufflepuff (2 teams)
Cedric - 1000 points
Newt - 1200 points
Hufflepuff house points = (1000+1200)/2 = 1100
Ravenclaw (3 teams)
Luna - 1500 points
Grey Lady - 900 points
Cho - 450 points
Ravenclaw house points = (1500+900+450)/ 3 = 950
Hufflepuff wins.

If you remember, back in the 90s, there was no technology at Hogwarts. The magic was too strong to let anything work. Now, and thanks to the amazing work Setup Wizzard Team things are different. However, our IT magic wiz will be awfully busy during that time on a side project. What does that mean for us?
We will have the usual spreadsheets. But, if the script that loads the books automatically starts acting up, we're going to disable it and enter books manually.

We're going to attend classes. That means maybe you'll have to transform cups into mouses, transplant baby mandragoras or brew potions, among other things.
Spells. From the simple Nox and Lumos, to the legendary Wingardium Leviosa, and the more complex Expetrum Pattronum. Since spelling plays such an important part “It's leviOsa, not levioSA!" this will be a spell-it-out challenge. Perfect for using those quiet member books, and ensure that even slower readers can win points for the team.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These will be open for the entire challenge and can be done in no particular order. It will grant extra points for completion BUT it will also give negative points for lack of.
Example: Spelling LUMOS. Each letter is worth 5 points. Completion gives 10 points. Incomplete word, -1 point per missing letter.
Example 1: Incomplete Word:
L - Laini Taylor, Strange the Dreamer
U
M - Magic bites, Ilona Andrews
O
S - Stardust, Neil Gaiman
3 letters spelled: 3X5 = 15 points
2 letters missing: 2X (-1) = -2 points
Spell Total: 13 Points
Example 2: Complete Word:
L - Laini Taylor, Strange the Dreamer
U - Unwind, Neal Shusterman
M - Magic bites, Ilona Andrews
O - Oliver, Lauren - Delirium
S - Stardust, Neil Gaiman
5 letters spelled: 5X5 = 25 points
Completion bonus = 10 points
Spell Total: 35 Points

Yes, we are playing Quidditch. And no, is not Muggle Quidditch although I have spent a shameful amount of time watching it.
Anyway, this will be...something unheard of at NBRC. Why? Because is more than a team play. IS A HOUSE PLAY.
What does this mean? It means that teams within same house need to work together to select 7 players for the game. (3 chasers, 1 keeper, 2 beaters and 1 seeker). Each position will have specific rules and tasks to emulate a quidditch game. Is a speed challenge and it needs some planning and talking, and is quite dynamic.
Since we have 4 houses, there will be played 3 matches, that will last for a max of 2 weeks, or till the snitch is caught - whatever happens first.
We will post the game settings, and rules and whatnot per type of player soon. We want it to be fun, and maybe a bit hard, but doable. SO, the initial concept may not work at all, or might have to be tweaked so it works better. So feedback will be much appreciated, so no question is a dumb question. One of the mods never read or watched Harry Potter, so, what comes naturally to one, needs more explaining to other.

May 12 and goes till July 31st - Harry Potter's birthday.

3 daunting quest to be done in order.
Based on the real Tri-Wizard (both book and movie). For each quest each team can chose which champion path to choose. (Is still under construction, so, no promises of the end result).
