The season is here! Talk everything baseball here for the new season.

Here's hoping every team can win the first home game. If not, a team may have some revenue issues for the season. If a team can't win it's first home game, it cant sell any more beer the rest of the season. After all, how can you sell beer if you lose the opener?

They weren't going anywhere...Twins and Tribe are class of the AL Central. But watch out for the White Sox in '19

Mendel doesn't like Judge or Bellinger or anyone else with an uppercut swing. He believes that until Yanks mature at the plate they will not get past a team with superior pitching like the Astros. It is little wonder to me that they have veterans rather than rookies at 2nd and 3rd to start the year. I wonder how longer Tyler Austin lasts at 1st. Think they will gamble and bring back Holliday?

Reds already rained out tomorrow. As if they couldn't get any worse.

message 7: by Mendel (new)

Mendel | 16 comments How are the Reds supposed to play their first two games in a doubleheader if they can barely play one game a day?

message 8: by Mendel (new)

Mendel | 16 comments Now the Mets bat the pitcher 8th? Mickey Callaway must have been influenced by Joe Maddon when they met in the World Series.

message 9: by Bob (new)

Bob D'Angelo | 83 comments An old joke, but still funny every year.

Play ball!

Doubledf99.99 | 1343 comments Cards opener is with the Mets, Cards Carlos Martinez goes up against Noah Syndergaard. Should be a good matchup.

message 11: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6395 comments Batting the pitcher 8th has been done plenty of times since Tony La russa brought it back into play in 1998. I remember the first time I saw it was when Phillies pitcher Steve Carlton hit 8th and shortstop Bud Harrelson in 1979.

Michael Linn | 11062 comments I feel like I`m about to get 15 fixes thanks to my cable package. The plan all year is to record some late west coast games & take a peek in the a.m. It`s about time- the off season stinks. I cleaned that up a touch.
Enjoy it all

Another thought is that Syndergaard is a decent hitting pitcher. And yesterday's presser was the first time I saw deGrom without the long locks. Looked strange...

I am await and ready for games to begin. We have our MLB.tv so we can watch all 15 games. Today is tg only game we can watch until Monday unless there are Day games tomorrow and we are taking full advantage. Time to fly the w!

Michael Linn | 11062 comments Happy opening day, happy Easter, happy Passover, happy final 4 & happy watching the 10 COMMANDMENTS. It shall be written.....
Watched an interesting prediction show where all the favorites are the winners from last year. One thing I do know, as dynamite as the Astros looked in 2018, it`s awful tough to repeat. ( Yankees- 1999 & 2000 I believe )
Mike Linn
& very happy to have Mendel with us

The Phillies repeated NL flags in 2008 and 2009. I think the Astrps are better than the Phillies and will win the flag. The world series is so hard to predict, but i think they will have home field advantage in the series. Astros over the Cubs. Let me add my wishes for a Happy passover and a sunny Easter for all. Let the games begin..... and so the Lord gave us a hard ball and piece of wood to use for entertainment!

Mike (mike9) | 6395 comments Terrible news to report. Rusty Staub has died today at 73 years young. Mr. staub had multiple organ failure. He spent the last 8 weeks in the hospital due to kidney failure. He would’ve been 74 on Sunday. Affectionately known as The Grand Orange by Montreal Expos fans for his flaming red hair, Rusty was theExpos first star player. He is also the only player in major league history to have 500 or more hits with 4 different teams. One of my first baseball memories was watching him in the 73 World Series.

Harold I picked Nova over Kansas because Jalen Brunson graduated from the same high school as me albeit much later. However I'd love to see UM win. And in a perfect world Loyola would win but I just don't see it happening.

Cubs should win by 2 touchdowns

The great thing about the Cubbies this year is that they start off with back-to-back train-wrecks. They could very easily be 6-0 out of the gate. Then they get Pittsburgh soon also.

Anyone see this K-ZONE 3D ? With it they don`t need robots calling pitches as it was instantaneous.

So what. He belongs as a full time DH. I wish Theo would figure that out.

message 36: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 18081 comments Ironic but fitting that the very first pitch thrown in the MLB this year was a home run-by Happ.

message 37: by Mendel (new)

Mendel | 16 comments It’s a sign of things to come, Harold. If the first pitch of the season was a dinger, how many home runs are going to be hit this year?

Harold Kasselman | 18081 comments Mendel wrote: "It’s a sign of things to come, Harold. If the first pitch of the season was a dinger, how many home runs are going to be hit this year?" That was my point Mendel. It's looking a lot like last year already.

Harold Kasselman | 18081 comments This is interesting-predictions for 10 players with the highest expectations. I thought Paul Goldscmidt's was the most interesting; namely the effect of the temperature on the balls and decreased velocity

No surprise to me - most of his great play last year came from the 8 or 9 hole. It will stay Dozier and Mauer in the top two slots this year. Maybe Buxton moves to lead off next year after Dozier leaves

And now, 2 HAPPS-2 HOMERS, The Cubs Happ hit one, the Jays Happ gave up one ( to Stanton ) also in the 1st

That's only in the minor leagues, right? I don't like it now. But when I get to see it in place when I catch a few minor league games later in the summer, I'll let you know.

Took a shutout to beat Kershaw...and it was a strange looking homer by Panik. Happy for the local kid.
