Read it several years ago, it was a paperback and I do not think it was a series. I don’t remember much but it’s driving me crazy!

I remembered the author’s last name, and after a bit of digging found the title! Absolute Trouble by Michele Albert. It seems like she writes under another name as well. Solved!
