sadly this just wasn't for me :(

I really enjoyed the book, but the thing that put me off was the amount of detail.
I had to stop and Google things, or even turn to the Glossary at the end to understand what was happening.

You know you're going overboard if you need a Glossary.

I liked it overall. I've only read the first two books, still trying to get to no. 3 but I have every intention of doing so. I thought it was interesting how different the first book was in setting to the second; I prefer the second and I think that when I started the series I expected more of a 'future magic dystopian london' book and less of a 'work camp rebellion' book.

I admit I get a bit sour with the Warden/Paige romance. It's well written but I will never not be creeped out by the trope of the old magical being falling in love with the young naive girl.

The Bone Season series is one of my all-time favorites. I agree that there is a lot of detail, an overwhelming amount sometimes, but once you are able to fall completely into the series it's damn near impossible to get out.
