Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments Ooh!! I love retellings.

I am not sure if you already have some in your TBR pile but I have read quite a few.

I am going to go check and see which retellings are on my TBR list.

message 7: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments Here are a few retellings that I have on my TBR and can get from my library:

Enchanted (Woodcutter Sisters #1) by Alethea Kontis Cloaked by Alex Flinn A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn

Also I do not think we are limited to fairytale retellings. I think we can also choose a classic retelling or a mythology retelling.

message 8: by Mandiann (last edited Jul 25, 2014 06:30PM) (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments Other fairytale retellings I can probably get:
Rump The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin by Liesl Shurtliff The World Above (Once Upon A Time Fairytales) by Cameron Dokey Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire The School for Good and Evil (The School for Good and Evil, #1) by Soman Chainani Enchantment by Orson Scott Card The Storybook of Legends (Ever After High, #1) by Shannon Hale Dorothy Must Die (Dorothy Must Die, #1) by Danielle Paige Splintered (Splintered, #1) by A.G. Howard Grim by Christine Johnson Kill Me Softly by Sarah Cross

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments If you are more interested in a Classic or Mythology Retelling, let me know.

message 10: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I saw Gisbelle's answer. Looks like the ones I have read are out so no to Ella Enchanted, Cinder or Goose Girl.

message 11: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I have already read cruel beauty and I dont think I can get entwined (although I really want to read it). I will check and see if I can get any of the other three and let you know.

message 12: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments Okay,I checked my library and I cannot get Crown of Ice.

I can get Entwined right away in audiobook or within two weeks in ebook or book form.

I can get Splintered by approx 8/7.

Ophelia is available at my library too.

Why don't you let me know if you can get any of those three and if you can get more than one we can pick which one we want to read the most.

I would prefer a fairytale retell to a Shakespearean retell but if it is the only one you can get than I am sure we will enjoy it.

message 13: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments Want to just go for Entwined? I can for sure get it in audiobook.

message 14: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I will be out of town Friday to Tuesday so if we want to do a schedule we should wait to start until Wednesday.

How many chapters is it?

message 15: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I am picking up Entwined tomorrow from the library (if I can find my library card). Shall we aim for 5 chapter per day or 10 chapters per day?

message 16: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments Okay! I finally have my book. Let me know when you are ready to start.

message 17: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments Sounds good. I can only do 5 chapters per day if we start this weekend. Tons of stuff on the go...

message 18: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I am still chapter one. I am having a hard time getting into it.

message 19: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I have never heard the three princesses tale so I don't know anything about it going in so I guess it is taking me a bit to figure out what is happening.

message 20: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I am about seven chapters in. Really starting to enjoy it!!

message 21: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I love that the princesses are all named after plants and in alphabetical order!

message 22: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I am done 15 chapters. What is this "R.B" they keep referring to?

message 23: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I am so glad the king (view spoiler)

message 24: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I only have two chapters left. I will finish today. So I am so behind.

message 25: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 7495 comments I finally finished. Sorry I took so long. I read the majority of it yesterday and this morning. Once I got into it and knew who everyone was, it went quick and was very enjoyable.

I think it's predictability in the romance front made it more enjoyable as you knew what was coming before the characters did and could watch all the interactions between the characters and read between what they were saying or doing to see what they felt. I enjoyed this fairy tale and would be interested in reading the original.

Finished on 8/23/2014
Rating: 3.5 stars (4 stars on goodreads)

Finally figured this out during the last chapter R.B. = Royal Business. This was driving me nuts, how did I miss it?
