Hi Everyone!

We want to get to know each other better and to support each other's work. I thought it would be good to open this thread for you to share your author pages or blogs instead of having a separate threads for each person. Feel free to post!

Do any of you take part in blog tours? I'm looking for some more hosts for my tour next month (7th-17th). It's for the second book in The Legacy Chronicles, Conviction. Reply or message me if you're interested. Thanks!

My own page is http://laurenhsalisbury.com
I'm not blogging much for a number of reasons, but I'm doing a few author spotlights for other spec fic authors during the tour.

Steve wrote: "OK, I'll stick my neck out: what's a blog tour??"

I was actually hoping some would answer your question. I know it has to do with a bunch of blogs posting around the same time a new book comes out, but I have never been apart of one. I had wanted to do one when my last book came out, but I never could quite figure out if it is book reviews, sales blurbs, author interviews, or what that the blogs are supposed to be posting.

message 16: by Peter (new)

Peter Younghusband (peteryounghusband) | 67 comments Lara, most authors provide all the info. They create an jnterview, a novel spotlight, a guest post about the books themes or topic and these are chosen by the bloggers. I have chosen the interview at one time, the spotlight for another. One time, I composed the interview questions as I had read an ARC of the novel, but that was my choice.

The author gives a list of dates and you choose one to post what you have chosen.

Usually, the blog post goes for a week to 10 days.

The author provides the info for the post in HTML so it requires very little or no formatting on your part. All photos and graphic a are provided.

I usually provide a short into and ending but that is not necessary in some cases if the author’s content includes this.

This is super helpful, and it makes a lot of sense! Perhaps I'll do one for my next book.

Lauren, if this is what you have in mind for September, I can put a post on my blog. It's https://laraswanderings.wordpress.com/ if you want to see if it will be suitable.

Will do, Peter. Thank you!

My blog, http://litwyrm.com/, isn't specifically fantasy and sci-fi, but it is all about books and literature. I write about everything from classics to poetry to picture books. (With fantasy and sci-fi of course making appearances)

T.K. Arispe (tkarispe) | 273 comments http://tkarispe.blogspot.com/ Here's my author blog. I'm on the cusp of starting to modify the layout a bit to make it more of a "centralized" author website, but the changes may already be in effect by the time you click (if there are page links at the top, I've done my job). This is where I post general updates, occasional illustrations, in-depth ramblings about my writing process, stuff that's generally too long-form for social media, and serialized fanfic. It's all family-friendly.

https://www.facebook.com/tkarispe And here's my professional author FB page. I try to post at least once a weekday and engage with followers frequently. It's also where I post news about new releases and promotional items like free book campaigns, and when I'm working on a manuscript I post daily total word counts. I love interacting with readers on FB, so if you like my books and want to hear from me frequently, this is the page to watch.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 62 comments At the moment, my blog is only on Goodreads - and I've only just created it. I can't be called a hare and I'm possibly even slower than a tortoise but here it is in all its glory:

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

There's only two posts so far but I'm planning to catch up with the tortoise.

Did you know that if you drop a 'like' on a Goodreads' blog, it makes it more visible? It rises to the top of Friends Home Pages. This is one way we can help each other.

message 38: by T.K. (new)

T.K. Arispe (tkarispe) | 273 comments That's great to know, Anna! I'm still very new to Goodreads, so I appreciate learning any little tips and tricks like that!

I like your comment about curling up with a good book being a good way to get through earthquakes! I live in California and we've had a few earthquakes lately, so no, you haven't gone too far at all. :)

message 39: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 62 comments I've sat through a few earthquakes too - in New Zealand.

You will find that it helps to look out for a few people to become Friends with. I see you don't have any yet. As you look around, if you see someone who has similar tastes or motives, you might want to go to their profile page and press on either 'Following' or the drop down box where you can 'add as a friend'.

message 40: by T.K. (new)

T.K. Arispe (tkarispe) | 273 comments Thank you! I will try that!

Besides the earthquakes, New Zealand looks beautiful!

message 41: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 62 comments Yes, NZ is particularly beautiful and one of the reasons why I incorporated it into my latest novel. I lived there for some years and found the people to be outstandingly friendly.

message 42: by T.K. (new)

T.K. Arispe (tkarispe) | 273 comments That's wonderful to hear! I attended a university in Hawaii that had students from all over the Pacific Rim, and the New Zealanders were so friendly and awesome. I'd love to visit NZ someday.
