Anywaysssss... Ch1: (view spoiler)[We've been introduced to 5+ different characters very briefly and at the moment I'm not sure whether any of them are of any significance save the Innkeeper and his apprentice(?)

Someone also have been attacked by a giant spider (that has no eyes or mouth) that is supposedly a "demon" - but also isn't one... and there seems to be some kind of war going on because there's talk of deserters and of people getting uhh... mugged on the trail?

Looks like it’s going to have some time jumps and such, because we have started in the present with Kvothe/Kote as an innkeeper, and now that the ‘Chronicler’ has arrived the story of Kvothe’s past is being told. Ch14 (view spoiler)[So we’re learning more about Kvothe as a young child, and his initial forays into learning about magic and such. He definitely seems to be incredibly intelligent, and may have eidetic memory...

There’s also been several mentions to ‘the name of the Wind’ and I know what it MEANS now... just not what it IS. (hide spoiler)]

Slowly getting through this... only 16% complete though, which is kinda terrifying ._.

Ch24 (view spoiler)[It’s just one horrifying and/or depressing thing after another. Kvothe has been beaten bloody multiple times (and I don’t think he’s any older than 14 at this stage?), he’s had his parents killed and his entire old life basically taken from him, he’s begging and stealing in the streets and may have just overheard the rape of an eight-year-old boy by multiple teenage boys. It wasn’t explicitly stated but there’s enough hints that it seems to be the case ;-;

Because as a result, Kvothe MASSIVELY pissed off a "powerful" (by proxy at least, being from a rich and powerful family) fellow student, almost set an entire fucking library on fire and then got banned from said library as a result... THE *DAY* HE FINALLY GOT ACCESS. (hide spoiler)]

Though suddenly leaving the university to go on what may just be a wild goose chase REALLY doesn’t seem all that smart.

It’s intriguing that the so-called demons likely aren’t demons at all, but instead different species of fae...

I’m also intrigued to know whether the sequel to this will bring Innkeeper Kvothe back towards the vision of Kvothe in the stories told.

Despite how long this was, I feel it is more of a prologue to ‘greater things’ than any true novel on its own, which is weird as anything ._. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6 (view spoiler)[ The Name of the Wind is beautifully written. Kote or Kvothe seems to be a really good character with lots of depth already. I like the Chronicler a lot. I am very curious about Kote's past and what the scar that wasn't healed was from. What are the spider things? I loved the introdution of the magic. It was really cool how the room went exceptionally silent and the bottle shattered! I am curious about what the magic system is exactly. This is a great start to the book and I look forward to continuing. I have a feeling Kvothe's story may be told through his telling the Chronicler, so that will be very interesting! (hide spoiler)]
