Hello fellow Crime, Mystery & Thrillers readers! By now you have probably noticed a few changes in the group and we sincerely hope you will be happy with the new implementations that will roll out over the course of the next few months. The masthead was changed to create a brighter atmosphere, we'd like suggesting for a new masthead to better reflect the group's focus. With this and all the rest of the changes, we'd like your feedback and suggestions. If you have anything you'd like the mod team to consider, add a comment in the 💡Suggestion Box discussion.

We also have a few new or revised topics for you to take a look at. Our 📆Group Calendar is posted in the Kitchen. It will be revised at the beginning of each the month so you can keep current with when events will take place.

We have a new 🤝Introduction Discussion . Whether you are brand new to the group or a seasoned veteran, please stop by and say "hi" so we can all start getting to know each other! Additionally we also have a brand new chat discussion called ☕Coffee's On, Tea is Brewing . Let chat!

❓Questions about nominations, polling procedures, and timelines? Check the Nomination Guidelines and Polling Information discussion and your questions should be answered. Our Group Rules have been updated as well.

And finally, we didn't forget the group's authors! The Author/Publisher Corner and Guidelines will be revamped and posted soon. We would love to have an author who can work with the mod team in order to develop a program that will allow the authors to share their work with the group's members in a way that will satisfy everyone. Any author interested please look at this discussion for more information: Author Liaison.

We have several new moderators. 👋🏼 Please welcome Anne, who will be posting New Releases, Awards, and Lists for us. Jenny, who will be working with our Games discussions and getting to know our members in that corner of the group. Maryam and Britney, who will be two of our team of Greeters. On behalf of the entire mod team, we are all looking forward to getting to know you better.

We are looking to fill some additional moderator positions, if you think you would be interested take a look at the following discussions:

March was a bit unusual for the group. We got a late start but once the dust settled in mid-month we began our discussion of The Wanted by Robert Crais. The discussion is being hosted by Danielle should you wish to join in. A big shout out and a thank you to Danielle for stepping up to the plate in the midst of the chaos. ¨°o.OⓉⓗⓐⓝⓚ ⓎⓞⓤO.o°¨

The books
🥇With 61 votes The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn wins by a healthy majority. This selection was nominated by Erica. Thank you Erica, great choice!

🥈🥈With 28 votes each Let Me Lie by Clare Mackintosh and The Escape Artist by Brad Meltzer tie for second place. These selections were nominated by Icewineanne and Wesley, respectively. Thank you both for your nominations, two more great choices!

Thank you to all the members 👩‍👩‍👧‍👦 👩‍👩‍👦‍👦 👩‍👩‍👧‍👧 👨‍👦 👨‍👦‍👦 👨‍👧 👨‍👧‍👦 👨‍👧‍👧 👩‍👦 👩‍👦‍👦 👩‍👧 👩‍👧‍👦 👩‍👧‍👧 who nominated ✍🏼 and voted 🗳️ for our April books and issues, it's you who make this group as successful as it is. The Book Discussions for April will be opened on March 28.

Focus on the Author poll
The question was: Would you be interested in adding a “Focus on the Author” feature that would allow the group to read a collection of works from one author?

The results were: Yes with 96 votes and No with 27 votes

As a result we am going to need a team of moderators to help with this ongoing project. If you are interested, please take a look at the requirements here: Focus on the Author Moderators.

Sub-genre poll
The question was: Would you be interested in changing the (current) process to include a selected sub-genre each month?

The results were: Yes with 62 votes and No with 38 votes

What does this mean? It means we will be changing, just slightly, the way we nominate and select our monthly group reads. Going forward you will be able to nominate and vote for two (2) books each month! Who doesn't love a democracy?

We will have our general nomination and vote, which will run exactly like what you are used to, you can nominate any book that is a Crime, Mystery, or Thriller. When it's poll time you will have one vote there. The top two (2) books will be our Group Reads for the month.

Additionally we will all have the opportunity to vote to selected a sub-genre. Once the sub-genre is selected you will be able to nominate a book that fits that specific sub-genre. When it's poll time you will have one vote there. The first place winner will be our Sub-genre Group Read for the month.

We need to vote to selected the sub-genre we are going to read for May. The poll is currently open and will close on Sunday, March 25th at 11:59 pm PDT.

True Crime poll
The question was: Would you be interested in reading non-fiction True Crime in the group Crime, Mysteries & Thrillers?

The results were: Yes with 78 votes and No with 44 votes

True Crime is included in the May sub-genre poll. Additionally True Crime can also now be nominated for our general nominations as well. Danny, we hope you'll re-nominate Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, it sounds like a fun read.

Re-read poll
The question was: Would you like the Mysteries & Crime Thrillers group to allow re-reads? and If so, how much time should elapse from the original read before a re-read should be considered?

There answers were: Yes with 90 votes and No with 26 votes.
How much time should elapse: two (2) years with 35 votes

Therefore so long as a book as has not been read in the past 24 months it will be allowed to stand in the nominations. The Read Bookshelf is being audited and will be up to date prior to our next round of nominations as a resource for you to check to see if your book is eligible to be read.

Happy Reading!
