Stephanie (einahpets_reads) | 31 comments Hi guys! I figured it'd be OK to start a thread on the LA Festival of Books since it is about a month away and some seemed interested in going together.

The schedule is supposed to go live today here:

And I just booked myself a bed in the female quad at this hotel/hostel downtown for Saturday night, if anyone is interested in staying for both Saturday/Sunday. It seemed relatively cheap by downtown LA standards (heh), and includes breakfast + a free drink (woo!):

There is a talk with Diana Gabaldon and another with John Scalzi.

I actually haven't read any of the authors in the Sci-Fi & Fantasy panel. Anyone read anything by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Annalee Newitz, or Connor Willumsen?

Shawnie | 13 comments I haven't read any of the SFF authors. Edit: I take that back... I've read several of Sherrilyn Kenyon's SF series.

Haven't either. It looks like Martin and I will definitely be going at least one day. Probably Sunday (I think that's the day of the Scalzi one)

Stephanie (einahpets_reads) | 31 comments So I ended up doing the pre-sale pass package for the festival because I knew I'd be going, wanted the poster (heh), and I knew which convos I wanted to go to.

I ended up snagging 4 extra tickets for the following conversations -- I'll print them out and bring them to the meetup this week for folks to take if they want.

Conversation 1062, Diana Gabaldon - Saturday @12:30pm

Conversation 1123, Unreally Real (Sci-Fi/Fantasy panel) - Saturday @ 2pm

Conversation 2031, John Scalzi - Sunday @ 10:30am

The general 'sale' for conversation tickets opens up on April 15 (they are free but you pay a service charge), and you can also pick some up the day of the festival. From what I observed last year, you probably don't need a ticket in advance for most talks except the bigger authors (like Margaret Atwood last year).
