Reading: Luke 24:13-35

Like any good mystery, once the action starts, the account builds to a climax. The second part of the account of the road to Emmaus has some more mysteries. Note verse 28: "As they came near to the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going further...." as he seems to be manipulating an invitation. What could his purpose be in this bit of play-acting? Have you ever acted as if you were going do something, in order to influence others?

Kathy Mills | 15 comments I wonder if Jesus decided he didn't want to travel alone-that he wanted to spend more time with His disciples, since he knew his time with them was limited. Perhaps he was hoping for their invitation.

Jesus was pretty good at being a fisher of men - and here he is fishing for an invitation. I have done that a few times, sometimes successful, sometimes not.
