Maxi Jazz lead singer of Faithless has died aged 65. There seems to be an unhealthy trend of people, famous and otherwise, dying in their mid 60's, scary!

All three could be considered legends in their own fields. RIP.
Oops! I forgot to mention Thom Bell, along with songwriters Gamble & Huff, one of the Philly Soul trilogy of the 1970s.https://www.theguardian.com/music/202...

That was my music of choice in the 70s. Loved all his work with The Delfonics, The (Detroit) Spinners, The Stylistics, Johnny Mathis, Diana & Marvin and more. A very classy man!
Two losses to the 'big C'Anita Pointer, of the Pointer Sisters, aged 74. Sister Ruth is now the sole surviving member.

American motorsport legend and YouTube star Ken Block has died in a snowmobile accident in Utah at the age of 55. Block pretty much competed in just about every rally sport going, gymkhanas and other action sports including Skateboarding, snowboarding and motocross. gained a following after appearing on Top Gear twice performing a number of stunts, including the infamous airfield drifting scene. He was also a co-founder of DC Shoes.RIP Ken Block.
One of my favourites, and he always seemed such a gentleman. A very humble performer on stage and happy to give credit to his fellow players.

Just heard this a few minutes ago. Very sad, and only 78 apparently. RIP.
Yukihiro Takahashi, aged 70. Drummer with the Sadistic Mika Band, before forming Yellow Magic Orchestra in 1978 with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Haruomi Hosono. He also maintained a solo career.
RIP Barrett Strong, composer with Norman Whitfield of many Motown classics, including 'I heard it through the grapevine', 'War', 'Wherever I lay my hat' and a string of psychedelic soul hits for the Temptations, 'Papa was a rolling stone', 'Cloud nine', 'I can't get next to you', and 'Ball of confusion' amongst them. He also sang Motown's first hit 'Money (that's what I want).
Burt Bacharach, aged 94. What can one say about the man that hasn't been said a thousand times during his lifetime. RIPhttps://theseconddisc.com/2023/02/09/...
Thanks Burt for a lifetime of musical memories. I have so many collections, film scores, solo albums and the Elvis Costello collaborations and all are works of genius. I was lucky enough to see him in 2015 and it was all I could have wished for.https://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertai...
Just received a Jonny Trunk mail-out talking about Burt. He gave a few links, including this early effort which many Burt fans may not be aware of - the theme song to 1959 corny but classic sci-fi b-movie 'The Blob', starring a young 'Steven' McQueen.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejtPJ...
I've got it on the 3-CD compilation "Magic Moments: The Definitive Burt Bacharach Collection"https://www.amazon.co.uk/Magic-Moment...
It is early but it's still got many Bacharach hallmarks.
Hugh Hudson, English director, best known for directing the Oscar winning film Chariots Of Fire, died 10th February, aged 86.
David "Trugoy The Dove" Jolicoeur of De La Soul has died aged just 54, apparently from congestive heart failure.https://www.theguardian.com/music/202...
Australian film director George T. Miller (not to be confused with the George Miller of "Mad Max" fame) has died of a heart attack aged 79. He is probably best remembered for "The Man From Snowy River", starring Kirk Douglas, and perhaps (by some) for "Les Patterson Saves the World".https://variety.com/2023/film/obituar...
Steve Mackey, bassist with Pulp during the band's 'golden age' has died aged just 56. He sadly spent the last three months of his life in hospital. RIP.https://www.theguardian.com/music/202...
Farewell David Lindley, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. I very much enjoyed his work with El Rayo-X but he is best known for his work with Jackson Browne.https://www.latimes.com/entertainment...
Gary Rossington, aged 71. The last surviving member of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd.Gary survived when his car ran off the road into a tree in 1976, an incident which was one of the inspirations behind the band's classic 'That Smell' on Street Survivors, which was released just days before the plane crash which killed Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and his sister (and backing singer) Cassie Gaines. Rossington survived that one too, although he broke both arms, legs and pelvis among his injuries.

yes, he would have been 90 later this year Tim and a true great. Love his Blue Note stuff - Schizophrenia, Soothsayer, Night Dreamer etc, his playing with Miles and Weather Report, also his contributions to Joni Mitchell. A unique sax player

Good to see you back here Huck. It's been very quiet of late. I hope you got through your bout of Covid without too many side effects.
Paul O'Grady, "unexpectedly but peacefully", aged 67.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainm...
Paul had a history of heart problems, having suffered at least two heart attacks early this century, so did that happen again? RIP.
RIP Simon Emmerson, guitarist, founder of Afro Celt Sound System and The Imagined Village. 13th March, the day after his 67th birthday.

What John has done for three generations of Nora's family is beyond the call of duty; firstly for her daughter Ari Up, then after Ari's death for her two children, and lastly for Nora herself. Respect.
Reading Nora's obit in the Telegraph I came upon the amazing fact that Jon Anderson of Yes was godfather to Ari Up. Nora had worked for many late 60s/early 70s acts after coming to the UK, including Jimi Hendrix, Wishbone Ash and Yes. A biography would be fascinating I think.

Farewell Father Bob.Of little interest to those in the U.K. but to us here in Oz Father Bob Maguire was a humanitarian giant. At a time when the Catholic Church has been pretty on the nose, he reminded us of what Christian values were. His charity was one of the recipients of my footy tipping comp and it was always good to know that the money went where it was intended. May his good works continue.
