The Gone But Not Forgotten RIP Thread
and Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk has died also at the age of 73, from cancer.RIP Florian (despite not liking your music, I can respect your influence on so many others)
ops, sorry derek, didnae see your earlier post. was lucky enough to have seen kraftwerk on the last tour that florian participated in. i knew he was, at least part, human early on that evening when the backdrop screen refused at first to work - he cracked a wee smile - outrageous!hugely influential musician (david bowie tributed him on 'v2 schneider' in return for checking bowie on 'trans europe express'). as we know, kraftwerk is a closed shop, produced a catalogue of untouchable genius, created entirely iconic imagery, were inventive and , ahem, patient (too patient for some!). schneider was at the heart of all this.
touching on what gordon said re dave greenfield, the stranglers were a huge part of my youth, must have seen them 6/7 times in the 77-80 time frame (made scarcely a decent record after then), the shows were brutal and massively unifying (like belonging to an exclusive gang of thugs!), first band i saw live (well, after the supporting (mighty) rezillos!).
Wow! That's a major, major figure gone. I'm not sure there are any original rock & rollers left now apart from Jerry Lee Lewis.

I just caught the end of the News M&D were watching and saw that Roy Horn of the Las Vegas Animal & Magic act, Siegfried and Roy, died on Friday (at the age of 75) from complications relating to the Coronavirus.
I force myself to sit through the ever more excruciating Grammys every year just in case you get to see some history such as this from 2008:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33-Db...
WoW?!! ... Little Richard really did look and sound absolutely amazing when he was a 75 year old, didn't he?!! ... how fantastic is that!!! ;o>
Wow, his voice, 75 years old!Guess the last rock n roller left from that era is The Killer, Jerry Lee Lewis. still performing.
2019 aged 83, looking every year of it, until he sings.

by jeebus, that clip was just SAD - take him out the back and put him out of our misery! ps, still more life than the rolling stones, ie, vague distant pulse!

Loved his music....another rock 'n' roll great gone. :-(
RIP Richard Penniman
Pretty Things singer Phil May has died of complications related to hip surgery following a fall from his bike.https://www.theguardian.com/music/202...
RIP
Not a fan of Rap or Hip-Op then? ("Shut up Brass")The Pretty Things were headliners at The Lincoln Blues Fest a couple of years ago. The local promoter who sets up these fests often has a distinctly non-blues headliner (The Blockheads last year who were excellent, Mungo Jerry who were OK and fun, etc) but this tends to mean the semi-geriatric audience drifts away rapidly (long day, buses to catch, Horlicks to drink) during the headline slot and the atmosphere evaporates. In this the PTs were no exception and though they were OK, unfamiliarity with their stuff and the call of an hour's natter in a Lincoln boozer proved the stronger urge I'm afraid.
Michael Angelis, of The Liver Birds, Boys from the Black Stuff and Thomas the Tank Engine has died at the age of 68.
One that slipped my mind.Jimmy Cobb, the last survivor of the group which recorded Miles Davis's classic, 'Kind Of Blue' in 1959 died on 24th May. He had lung cancer.

Gordon wrote: "Michael Angelis, of The Liver Birds, Boys from the Black Stuff and Thomas the Tank Engine has died at the age of 68."I always liked him, especially in Boys From The Black Stuff. I've recently hunted down two DVDs of Thomas the Tank Engine, just for the voices of Ringo Starr and Michael Angelis. How come so many of the websites, including the BBC, have him as aged 76 even when they have his year of birth as 1952?
I don't know, Val? - they also keep on repeating it on the Live TV Reports here and I've been wondering why they keep on persisting in doing it as well?
There seem to have been 2 Michael Angelis's, both born in Liverpool. One was aged 76 when he died, one aged 68. It's really difficult to work out from Wiki, imdb and google.Michael Angelis (18 January 1944 – 30 May 2020)
76 sounds right - as some Websites mention his older Brother, Paul, who died aged 77 back in 2009 and, although it is still possible, I think the distance between their ages sounds to be far more likely if Michael was 65 back then rather than 57?
The world’s oldest man, Bob Weighton, has died from cancer at the age of 112, on 28th May.The former teacher and engineer, from Alton, Hampshire, took up the title of the oldest man in the world in February after the death of the previous holder, Chitetsu Watanabe of Japan.
The title has now been passed on to Dumitru Comanescu, aged 111 years and 203 days old, having inherited the title following the death of Bob Weighton.
Bit of a curse having that title passed to you? Wonder which of the oldest men/women held that dubious honour longest?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_an...Adam was 'allegedly' 930 years old when he died. Seeing as he was the oldest man all his life, can't be beaten probably. 🤔🤪

That said..to get to be able to live to such a grand old age anyway..is pretty amazing.

Birth & death certificate required or it didn't happen.
RIP Steve Priest, one of my teenage years heroes, remember Sweet, anyone? Their Sweet Fanny Adams was pretty heavy stuff for 1974, unfortunately didn't get topped.
Everyone remembers Sweet on Top Of The Pops and Steve's natty (cross) dressing, dads up and down the land spitting out their tea as they watched;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_jdi...
Still hard to believe that Taggart was the singer Brian Connolly's step-brother!Are you ready Steve, thurr's bin ah murrrduh?!

"Still hard to believe that Taggart was the singer Brian Connolly's step-brother!"no really, both equally ugly! always comes to mind (oh ****, here he goes again!) that 'ballroom blitz' was a hymn to kilmarnock's grand hall!
Missed this one....Paul 'Tonka' Chapman, guitarist with UFO and Lone Star (the British band of 'Bells Of Berlin' fame, not the dreary yanks of same name) died on 9th June on his 66th birthday
