Many demonize World economic forum and ascribe all kind of sinister projections to it. What's your attitude?
My feeling is that for most of the world it is irrelevant because it does not do anything for the world. My guess is it does move a lot of wealth around between already very rich guys.
Ian wrote: "....it does not do anything for the world."Supposedly, lots of global agenda is aired, discussed and even set there. Another question is whether it's for the world or against it :)
I never meant to suggest they did not talk. I merely suggested that no action was implemented that was not for the benefit of them. Of course I might be wrong, but some evidence of net benefit to others than themselves would be a genuine pleasant surprise.
Nik, what you said got my attention: "Another question is whether it's for the world or against it :)" Why would they be against the world? It makes no sense, as they're part of the world, but I ask that same question every day here: Why are the ones in power against the U.S.? Why destroy the country you live in? Any ideas?
I don't think they are against the world. It is just that they want to make immense amounts of money, which is ridiculous because they actually have all that money already. But they want more, for not particularly good reason.

Some aren't really concerned with much apart from their precious self. Although some - admittedly are different and truly embrace some philanthropic agenda once they realize they'd already made it big time.
Many ascribe Davos gang all kind of sinister things probably way beyond what they really aim at - like those theories voices by Beau and others - that they are out to strip us all of assets and other similar projections. I think they are concerned with the humankind less from the kindness of their hearts, more from self-preservation instinct, because if we really get into the situ when big layers of population have nothing to eat, some would eat billionaires.
So, I guess most folks have already returned home in deer driven sleighs to spare the environment. Would like to hear first hand impressions, while I post here some WEF summaries: https://www.weforum.org/events/world-...
You know what I think about the WEF, Nik, but interesting experience regarding it today...
The UK MSM hardly ever talk about the WEF and most Brits have never heard of it. However, when I was watching Al Jazeera over my 3 course lunch (as you do), the WEF conference was one of the main features. The report was far from critical of it, in fact it just gave the impression that all viewers would surely know this is an incredibly important organisation, interlinked with the Western world's primary movers and shakers.
Why is our own MSM so coy about admitting this?

My impression Davos gets a fair share of coverage in Israeli and Ukrainian press. In my opinion it is more demonized than what it really is. As it hosts much of the corporation bosses and politicians, I wouldn't be surprised if many were involved in shady and even awful dealings jointly and severally, not sure it's here where they decide on nasty stuff :)As you may notice the general public is largely kept out of strictly "business stuff" and it rarely becomes the issue of public polemics. You can discuss anything but. Since biz has pivotal influence on our lives and on what happens in the world, it's like it's never on the radar.
Argentina's president, Javier Milei's speech to the WEF:https://youtu.be/4z44XP4u9Xs?si=2daK9...
What do y'all think?
The guy likes to theorize. I think both capitalism and collectivism have drawbacks that need addressing and advantages. Similarly humankind comprises of both individualistic and herd animals. Scandinavian countries demonstrate a good alloy of both in sync with local mentality and score high on most charts be they of happiness, GDP or whatever, while pure capitalism and socialism are both less impressive. Capitalism is a good system, which generally conforms human nature, but which nevertheless needs calibration to provide for a meaningful living for the widest possible layers of population, as opposed to most individualistic or communistic

I saw it on twitter and thought it excellent.

Anyhow, most of economic and political elite is there now, speeching, mingling, drinking, striking 'secret' or over -the -table understandings, or whatever else could be done there.
If there are grounds for some global conspiracy theories, this forum fits to be one of its visible embodiment.
So what is it: mostly a ceremonial event or the place where global trends and tendencies are shaped? Any expectations from the current one?
