Félix (habitseven) Is it that time of year again? Holy crap.

message 3: by Knarik (new)

Knarik can you see this everywhere?

message 4: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) If the sky is clear, Knarik.

message 5: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments I think it's better in the northern hemisphere. And fingers crossed that the Bay Area fog will not be joining us, as the weatherman promised.

message 6: by Knarik (new)

Knarik it is my habit to look at stars every night, so i will do that today, too!

message 7: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments I've been wondering how visible they will be in such an urban area as NYC. Granted this part of Queens is not overly lit...

message 8: by Félix (last edited Aug 11, 2009 05:42PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) Maybe yes, Mindy. Clouds are usually the biggest problem.

message 9: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments I heard the northeastern US is prime for viewing but the moon is going to be the biggest issue.

message 10: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments They mention that in True North!

How late do I have to stay up? I go to sleep early, you know...

message 11: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Isn't the moon always the biggest issue dear Gretchen?

message 12: by RandomAnthony (last edited Aug 11, 2009 05:57PM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Wait, I just checked...1AM! Even if that's only 11PM my time...aw, I'll just check youtube tomorrow:)

But wait, that's 3AM my time, right? Nools is on the west coast? Heck, sometimes I'm up by then...

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Stupid clouds... :(

message 14: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sorry, Jackie. C'mon down to SoCal and view.

not if it's a new moon, right? it's a gibbous something or other right now, which i guess means biggish. maybe i should pursue a career in astronomy. I think I have a gift.

message 16: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) No, there's a difference between astronomy and astrology.

They said 9-11 should be dark enough, and then at 3 CST. About 200 per hour.

message 18: by Knarik (new)

Knarik I am always up after 12pm, so the time isn't problem! I hope that would be really magnificent.
