I'm reading a kindle version so I'm not sure how that compares to your 15pages in, but starting chapter 2 now.

srsly ch1 is literally nothing but descriptions of baking lemon pastries and a dream about lemon trees to make the pastries from. I feel like I needed a warning going into this that it'd make me start craving lemon tarts.

What voice are you reading Cheshire's speech in? For me it's Roger Jackson's voice for the Cheshire cat in Alice: Madness Returns.

Read the first 5 chapters now. This is turning out to be a very easy/quick read so however far you get when you next pick it up I'm sure I won't be behind for long.

haha no worries, it'll be the same way when I sleep later. Tho I am surprised I'm ahead of you at all. I fully expected to make that progress and have you show me up since you read faster than I do lol

So far this doesn't seem very dark (maybe that'll change? I'm kindof hoping it does) so that voice fits better than the AMR Cheshire cat voice, which is very deep and (haaaaaawt *fans self*) really sets the tone for the game.

idk man idk. I'm not hating it but I'm pretty far from loving it rn, but I do think there's hope for this to improve.

I'm sooo glad that the romance seems like it's gonna involve Cath and Jest and that it only hinted at Jack's toxic way of showing his feelings but I swear if it does anything to try and make him a love interest Imma scream. Yanking on a girl's hair and insulting her at every turn and repeatedly telling her how there's no way you could ever like her is not how you show affection and he does not deserve to have her think kindly of him.

also was it just me or did was the description of Jest's appearance a bit gross?

Oh good, from the ending of ch17 when they go to the Mad Hatter's tea party I was hoping things would finally pick up. And yeah I'm so glad the romance is with Jest. I'm actually liking the progression of their relationship. And the less time Cath spends near her mother the better the book should get.

I'm kinda glad it wasn't just me. Except for that one description I'm quite enjoying his character.

Hi, Burble. It's been a while since I spent time reading published books so I don't know what books to recommend personally. That said I recommend trying to look through various listopias other users have made to find something you'd be interested in, such as perhaps the fluff listopias here, or searching the word "comfort" for other ideas.
