We have the green light for your yellow book from the captains group - Yay!

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments As Karen mentioned, this is one of the most easiest competitive team challenge you'd come across. The bottomline is to really just read-read-read... we can always try and use that book somewhere in all our cards.

So, two things!
One, READ!
Two, Note down every little detail from your book for the alphabets we have (so that we can move the books around as required)!

Simple! :)

Hey! Finally a guy around here in these team challenges! :D
I was beginning to feel lonely :P
Welcome, Kunal! :)

Sreshtha Basu | 78 comments Hi everyone! I'm Sreshtha. I reside in Kolkata (same as Kunal), India. I'm 21 and I'm a student. I'm expecting to be super busy this year but I'll try my best to read as much as possible.
Also, this is my second time playing the UNO challenge. Last year, I pushed myself to read books that I wouldn't have read otherwise. And I discovered some great authors along the way. I'm already excited for the mini challenges.
Sass - I hate it when the temperature falls to 14℃ in here. Can't even imagine what -14℃ would feel like.

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 497 comments Hi Kunal and Sreshtha! Welcome.

I usually just read a book and fill in where it fits as I go along. The only reason I'm looking for colors is because the yellow was such a struggle last year, but it looks like this year it's taken care of!

Woot!!

That means I don't have to read a yellow this time??? YAY! I think I'll keep in them the pot just in case we need them for other rounds.

message 57: by K (new)

K (kai_la) | 25 comments Hi all!

I'm Kaila, a software engineer hailing from US. This is my first time doing the UNO Challenge and I'm excited to be teaming up with y'all.

My books are all over the place, but I'd say I'm most partial to mystery/thriller and urban fantasy. I'm not a romance fan, and I'm picky about nonfiction/sci-fi reads, but anything else is pretty much fair game. And I'm always on the lookout for recommendations.

So nice to meet you all! Hopefully I'll have some time to think over my upcoming reads for the spreadsheet soon. Looking forward to working with you.

Wow, that's great. Great incentive to read it and get up to date in this series.

Saraaa (iamsarahgee) | 76 comments Hello, everyone! I’m Sara from the Philippines. 👋🏼This is my first time playing the UNO challenge so I might have a couple of questions once we start. 😅

I read mostly YA fantasy, dystopian, and contemporary. Though I also like historical fiction these days. So there. Nice to meet you all! 🤗

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments So, has everyone checked in. Hello all.

Karen and Apoorv.... are we going to have a separate thread to record our finished books and where they might fit or do you just want us to mark off the spreadsheet?

message 66: by Diane Woods (new)

Diane Woods | 81 comments I guess I never formally checked in on the thread. Off to a great start I see 😡 I will do my best to check in more often..

Hi Diane - welcome!

We've now all arrived. Yay! Now for the waiting :)

Do we want to play a mini game like bingo over the next few weeks while we are waiting for UNO?

No separate thread. If you can post here when you have finished and if you want to enter the details of how it fits into the tracking s/sheet that would be grand. If you aren't able to (out and about, on a phone etc.) then you can post the ways it may work onto the thread and we will enter it in for you :)

message 69: by Diane Woods (new)

Diane Woods | 81 comments I love the idea of a mini game!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments Thanks Karen.

And yes to a mini game while we wait.. as long as it's not too much bother for you.

message 71: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (last edited Jan 10, 2018 08:28PM) (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Not difficult, we can just add the bingo s/sheet template to our tracking sheet. :)

There are already bingo cards here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I'm happy to do any of them. Any preferences?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments I don't mind either. Make the Captain's executive decision, Karen.

message 73: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (last edited Jan 10, 2018 09:58PM) (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments How about we go with this one seeing that it is the new one so none of us would have done it before, and it has a good mix of things

(click on the image for a larger version)

I've copied the BINGO s/sheet to our Tracking s/sheet

To play (optional)
Call out which square you are reading for and add in your details (except for the read date) into the tracking s/sheet bingo tab.

message 74: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (last edited Jan 10, 2018 10:00PM) (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Bingo

I'm reading Practical Magic which works for the square "Someone recommended to you"

Oh and I'm also reading Bleak House which covers "classic"

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments Goody. I'll snaffle these two -

Not in a series. Envy by Sandra Brown

Black Item on the cover - The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston

I was thinking I would do Necropolis by Jordan L. Hawk for 4th in a series and Cover Up by LA Witt book 3 in a series

Teri | 401 comments Will work for a white cover? I have a BR tomorrow The color tool thingy says it's 53% solitude and has the white next to it, but says (blue) in the parenthesis for the color name, so I'm super confused

message 93: by K (new)

K (kai_la) | 25 comments Turns out, The Child Finder wasn't much of a thriller, but it works for green cover (juuust over 50%: The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld ) so I swapped it over. I grabbed Artemis for my next read, which works as an any award winner/nominee.

message 94: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Well done Kaila

My husband just finished Artemis and it is now waiting for me ;)

message 95: by K (new)

He really enjoyed it. I think when you have someone like this who has a MASSIVE hit with The Martian, it is hard to release your next book as everyone wants the "same".
This book is apparently very different, but my husband said it was easier to read (he read it in about 3 sittings) and he thought it was quite good

message 98: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Great!

I'm still getting through mine. Bleak House is going to take a while. I just want to finish it before UNO! ;)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments And I'm reading this.. The Pillars of the Earth (Kingsbridge, #1) by Ken Follett slowly.. so won't be finished for UNO but still an interesting read.

message 100: by Teri (new)

Teri | 401 comments Barging In is killing me slowly. SLOWLY. It's not working for me at all, but I'm going to keep at it. I have one for set in Australia, Imagines by NR Walker. I'm going to my happy place tomorrow though with PsyCops #9 by JCP, then I will get back to these. Wish me luck with Barging In....
