Charity, I see a theme here! Are you working towards some minimalism? It is also one of my goals. I am much happier when my life is simple and free of clutter.

message 39: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) I've been working on minimalism for over two years now. I was never one for clutter or over-sentimentalizing objects, but there were certainly ways that I could reduce. The past couple of years have been very freeing. I never tire of reading about the minimalism movement though and I still find ways to simplify my life, even with a husband, a teen, and a preteen at home.

Obviously, one of the biggest hurdles was my books. I love physical books and just can't get into e-readers and audiobooks. However, a few years ago, I got rid of over 600 books that I had read (and wasn't planning to reread) and have been selling or donating books as I read them ever since (minus my absolute favorites). I still have about 200 books at home to be read, but that number will never get that big again. I now treat my public library like it's my personal library and buy very, very few books. When I do buy books, I buy for my kids because I think the books you read as a child truly shape who you become. Plus, my kids read their books until they are practically memorized.

The beauty of minimalism is there isn't a one-size-fits-all plan, so anyone and everyone can do it.
