Shawna Seed (skseed) | 303 comments No. 6 of 48: Grant

This book was long but so worth my time. It provides really good perspective on how Reconstruction failed, allowing Jim Crow rule to strangle the South after the Civil War.

No. 10: How to Be Safe

No. 11: I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer

No. 12 Let Me Lie

No. 13: The Punishment She Deserves

There! All caught up. Still one book off the pace, though.

Shawna Seed (skseed) | 303 comments No. 25 of 48: The Woman in the Window

I listened to this on Audible rather than reading it. I wonder if I might have liked it better in a different format? The premise is really clever. But the narrator's voice for the protagonist was SO overwrought. I found myself offering sardonic advice to the character as I drove. I saw quite a few of the twists coming, too. A product of being stuck in a car?

Shawna Seed (skseed) | 303 comments No. 33 of 48: The Trouble with Goats and Sheep

The Kindle version of this twisty mystery set in 1970s England is $2.99 right now. I think the price is good for through the end of July.

Shawna Seed (skseed) | 303 comments No. 42 of 48: Transcription

I normally love Kate Atkinson, but with this one... I just kept turning the pages, waiting for the story to start. It wasn't until I got to the very, very, very end that I said, "OH."

message 46: by Shawna (new)

Shawna Seed (skseed) | 303 comments No. 43 of 48: The Man from the Train: The Solving of a Century-Old Serial Killer Mystery

A strange book, but fascinating. One of the murders took place 40 miles from where I grew up. I'd never heard anything about it.
