What are some of your favorite quotes from books that you have read?

message 2: by Kristi (new)

Kristi Jacobsen (kristijacobsen) | 4 comments One (of many) that resonated with me most from I Am That Girl by Alexis Jones is:

"You have this one, precious life and you alone dictate the colorful resplendence of your mural. You decide the spectacular spectrum of shades and brush strokes you'll use to illustrate your story. And while I can't fathom what life has in store for any of us, I do know that life is not too short, but rather, far too long for you to waste another day not seeking out every adventure calling your name."

message 3: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 2 comments "Ove has been a grumpy old man since the first day of the second grade." - A Man Called Ove

"To lose one parent, Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness." - Importance of Being Earnest

"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderly again." - Rebecca

message 4: by Kiser (new)

Kiser | 2 comments “Just because you can't experience everything doesn't mean you shouldn't experience anything.”

From the book Everything Everything one of my favorite books.

message 5: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Rubens | 5 comments "I am sure there is Magic in everything, only we have not sense enough to get hold of it and make it do things for us"-Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

"In one of those stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night. And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me. You will always be my friend...I shall not leave you."
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

"All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust." Peter Pan

"Anne's horizons had closed in since the night she had sat there after coming home from Queen's; but if the path set before her feet was to be narrow she knew the flowers of quiet happiness would bloom along it. The joys of sincere work and worthy aspiration and congenial friendship were to be hers; nothing could rob her of her birthright of fancy or her ideal world of dreams. And there was always the bend in the road!" -Anne of Green Gables

message 6: by Staci (new)

Staci (srdst12) | 3 comments “You can build walls all the way to the sky and I will find a way to fly above them. You can try to pin me down with a hundred thousand arms, but I will find a way to resist. And there are many of us out there, more than you think. People who refuse to stop believing. People who refuse to come to earth. People who love in a world without walls, people who love into hate, into refusal, against hope, and without fear.”
~Lauren Oliver, “Delirium”

message 7: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 31 comments I am that person who has countless of books with so many pages folded down because of the quotes. The binding breaks on them. JK Rowling especially. If any of you have read The Last Lecture, by Randy Pausch, you can pretty much go to any page and any paragraph. So I have countless.

"She approves. She loves her too. Who I was. Who I am. It's just love. I can't wait to find out who I will be when next Thanksgiving rolls around. Whoever I'll be, I will be beautiful. Because I may be an old liar, but I will be a beautiful old liar. I will be happy. I will be worth it. Worth the Chocolate Factory. Always a work in progress. Always dancing. Always in the sun. Yes. Always dancing in the sun. Yes. Yes. YES." Shonda Rhimes, "Year of Yes"

message 8: by Meg (new)

Meg | 2 comments My wedding was in a gorgeous library and super book-themed, including my writing on the back of every escort card a different quote about love from literature- I have a million. But just a few include:

Cutting for Stone: “The key to your happiness is to own your slippers, own who you are, own how you look, own your family, own the talents you have, and own the ones you don't. If you keep saying your slippers aren't yours, then you'll die searching, you'll die bitter, always feeling you were promised more. Not only our actions, but also our omissions, become our destiny.”

From Isabel Allende's Of Love and Shadows: “For women, the best aphrodisiacs are words. The G-spot is in the ears. He who looks for it below there is wasting his time.”

Carl Sagan (about his wife): "Ten long trips around the sun since I last saw that smile, but only joy and thankfulness that on a tiny world in the vastness, for a couple of moments in the immensity of time, we were one."

Lauren | 31 comments "When I found out there was something called a Puppy Party? Where they bring PUPPIES for kids to hold and cuddle for an hour and it's not puppy abuse, it's good for the puppies because they are training the puppies to be service dogs? I almost lost my mind jumping up and down. Puppies!! A party with puppies! COME ON!! That exists?" - Shonda Rhimes. Can they do this for adults please?

The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”
― Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

"Faith with proof is no faith at all." - Patrick Ness, The Ask and the Answer

"Choices may be unbelievably hard but they're never impossible. To say you have no choice is to release yourself from responsibility and that's not how a person with integrity acts." - Patrick Ness, Monsters of Men

"Sometimes I wonder if he were raised a Red and I a Gold if he wouldn't have ended up a better man than I am now, and I a worse man than he could ever be. For some reason I think I could have been capable of great evil." - Pierce Brown, Golden Son

"I understand that the way you stop time is by stopping being ruled by it. I am no longer drowning in my past, or fearful of my future." - Matt Haig, How To Stop Time

message 17: by Kathi (new)

Kathi | 2 comments And so I often had to choose between wine & things like toilet paper....The toilet paper did not always win. Sometimes a broke woman needs the red wine more. ---Year of Yes ~ Shonda Rhimes
