SOLVED. Romance where man falls for kids school teacher/counselor. [s]

I think the man was in private security and he meets his kids school counselor (or teacher) can’t remember which. He was a single dad and I believe she was a single mom. I remember the was a big issue with his daughter and her and the counselor were shot at in their driveway. It all had something to do with a car accident that killed a couple students.

I think I read it this summer, but it could have been longer ago.

Add: she just recently moved to a farm and has farm animals.
