Wellington, the capital of New Zealand is often called the "coolest little capital in the world". Let's start with some interesting facts and found out if its true.

✱ Wellington is the southernmost capital in the world.
✱ Wellington replaced Auckland as the capital city of New Zealand in 1865.
✱ Strong winds through the Cook Strait give it the nickname "Windy Wellington."
✱ It was ranked #1 in the 2017 Global Quality of Life Survey making it the most "live-able" city in the world...WOW!!
✱ Wellington is packed with over 400 cafes and restaurants which on a per person basis rivals that of New York.

2. Wellington Cable Car & Museum

Hop on the Wellington Cable Car and experience a slice of history on New Zealand’s only running funicular railway. Aside from the parks, museums, cafes and shops, the walk around the waterfront is peppered with unexpected and inspiring finds. The City Council tries its hardest to live up to the city’s identity as ‘Capital of Cool’ by investing in public art. You'll find 13 pieces along the waterfront, by New Zealand artists, making the waterfront one of the best places in the country to view a collection of kiwi-inspired art. So keep your eye out for a few of these iconic sculptures. Definitely cool!!
