In this record, the following book should be uncombined. The supplemental nights is distinct, but related to thousand nights and a night (which seems to be also called arabian nights).

For some reason I can't link directly the title I want seperated, so here is the name of the one that ought to be pulled out: Arabian Nights: Supplemental Nights to the Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night with Notes and Anthropological and Explanatory, Vol. 5

This whole series is a mess, Translators listed as authors, 2 pages of results for certain volumes, etc. but I've pointed most of that out in another thread.

I'm not a librarian at this point, but if its a collected works title, then it shouldn't be uncombined. you should find the individual title that you're looking for. Both should still be there.

Exceptions might be if ALL of the individual titles available in goodreads db for that series were combined into one single book title without any others available to shelve.

EG Book 1, Book 2, and Book 3 should all be available to shelve. If a publisher comes along and sells Books 1-3 as a compendium, that is sort of viewed as a fourth title, and should be available to shelve also.

I'm no Librarian, but thats what I see in the database.

Sandra | 24728 comments #4 separated. Definitely not the same book as it has only 3 stories all by Kennedy, whereas the other 2 books had multiple authors & stories.

Hi Ken, sorry I piggybacked on your thread. Since the "subject" matched what I needed and it wasn't attached to a particular book in the header I used this thread.

I can't find the rule in the manual but this shouldn't be combined. In general we only combine exact books. (1 exception would be an abridged book is combined with its full version, I'm sure there are others.)

ETA oops was typing same time as Sandra. TY.

Also it had a librarian note that it shouldn't be combined. Sadly that had been ignored.
