I'll buddy read the new Ember in the Ashes book when it comes out. That might be my favorite YA fantasy series ever. That's about as dark as it comes without becoming something like Nevernight or Broken Kingdom where it's really Grimdark with young characters.

I'd like that, the writing is very smooth for a YA series

would the beginning of June work for you? it's to be released in May

I would be doing it on audio. Off the top of my head you only have Persepolis Rising on May 24th, and MLN Hanover series on June 10th. Unsure what else you've got up your sleeve

Excellent I’ll set it up tonight at work

message 9: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2601 comments Nice list. I'm jealous you are so caught up with The Saxon Stories. I've only read the first one. Hoping to read a few of them this year so I can at least be less behind. I'm nine behind at the moment and there is no end to the series in sight!!

Nice update :) you don't have a lot of shame at the moment, so wtg! I'm eager to see you pick up the third Riftwar book because for me it was when the series really came alive. Book 2 was boring af.

message 14: by Mayim (new)

Mayim de Vries | 2918 comments Margret if I were you I wouldn't bother with Hawk Queen. It's not really a series, it an overblown companion novella, and a bad one. I think you may safely abandon it as there are so many other great books.

Completed Hawk Queen, I would agree with you Mayim. Passable at its best.

Have brought Stormlight up to date as well, and abandoned Dragonlance: Chronicles

Sorcery Ascendance was iffy at first but it grew on me, I just finished book# 2 of Drenai and found it to be better than Legend (#1) so I’m quite happy!

Bill | 2150 comments Your thread name still makes me laugh everytime I see it. I don’t know how you keep your list so small with all these buddy reads.

message 23: by Margret, Caladan Brood Face (new)

Margret | 3170 comments Mod
I’ll tell you my secret: I don’t really buddy read 😂 maybe 1-2 per month. I need to involve myself in more but I have to do it in a spontaneous way, so I’m picking buddy reads from the list when I have time between audio so it still counts

message 24: by Margret, Caladan Brood Face (new)

Margret | 3170 comments Mod
Also, I want my list to be musically paired to “Hello” by Lionel Ritchie

message 25: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2150 comments Unfortunately at this point I think I would have pair my list with “Oops I did it again” by Britney Spears.
