Nicole | 272 comments 2017 was an off year for me reading-wise, but I had a lot going on. Here's to 2018 being better all around!

Nicole | 272 comments Not too bad. Getting one or two a week knocked out. Will probably need to pick up the pace a bit.

Blagica | 11915 comments You are doing great! Hoping March is a smashing success for you.

message 7: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 272 comments Thank you! I'm mostly enjoying what I've read so far, although the book I'm reading now about science is a bit of a struggle. I have "I Am Legend" downloaded for tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to.

Blagica | 11915 comments The movie was good I will be curious to know what you thought on the book.

Nicole | 272 comments I just told my husband this morning that I'm looking forward to seeing how they compare! I thought the movie was good. So far the book jumps straight into the tension.

I really enjoyed it! Honestly I kind of liked the direction the Will Smith movie took a little better than the original, but it was super fast-paced and tense. Definitely worth the read. :)

Nicole | 272 comments Getting close to 15! LOL Both the books I'm reading/listening to this week are LOOOOONG but we have a couple road trips this weekend so that might help.

Blagica | 11915 comments A book is a dream that you hold in your hand. I hope that April brings you many more five star reads. Do you have a stand out book so far this year?

message 13: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 272 comments I am Legend and Beneath a Scarlet Sky were probably the 2 top so far. I just finished Kristin Lavransdatter and haven't updated - that's a close third. Hope to update this weekend - it's been busy :)

message 14: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 272 comments Updated. I did add a book I read to my daughter (I would be a lot farther if I added all of them, but that's kind of ridiculous lol), but it's a classic that I hadn't actually read yet so I feel like it counts. And we both LOVED it!

Kristin Lavransdatter was a 45 hr, multiday Audible marathon but completely worth it.

I've got 2 "real" books going - one of which is long and although I'm enjoying it I can't seem to find much time to actually focus on it. I just started another one today that is about a quarter as long and I'm hoping I can knock it out quickly. Plus my husband is waiting for me to finish it so he can read it.

message 15: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 272 comments Have a couple of shorter audio books - one I've finished and one for Monday. Usually I try to get the longest books I can find for my credits :), but I came across a couple I had really wanted to read.

Almost finished the shorter "real" book and I've actually made some progress on the longer one as well.

Nicole | 272 comments 18. The Man from the Train: The Solving of a Century-Old Serial Killer Mystery 1 star, 4/19/18

Well.... I've found my worst book of the year so far. This one was sooooo bad.

Blagica | 11915 comments You are doing great! I hope May is a fantastic month filled with books and sunshine!

Nicole | 272 comments For the love. This year is kicking my you-know-what. I have resolved to just do what I can do lol.

I have a 16 month-old that is constantly busy, my parents are living with us while they build an addition on our house, I have a 40-hr/week professional job and a boutique I run online in off hours, and my dad was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He beat lymphoma almost 9 years ago, so we're hitting it with everything we've got.

All of that is not leaving a lot of time for reading, but I've made some progress. And I'll try to be better about updating.

Nicole | 272 comments Thank you! Just finished another one but not where I can update at the moment.

message 23: by Roxanne (new)

Roxanne (radiantrox) | 115 comments Great progress, we're at about the same stage in our journey to get to 100 books! I'm hoping we can catch up and reach our goals!

Happy Reading!!
What's your favorite book so far this year?

message 24: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 272 comments It's hard to say since they're all so different. Maybe A Dance to the Music of Time just because it's so massive.

Good luck on your reading!

Nicole | 272 comments Yassssss!

Look at that jump! Two things: I have pretty much quit watching television altogether, and I found an app called Readercoin that lets you listen to public domain (Librivox) titles for credits you can then use to donate to causes or save up for gift cards (like Amazon). My referral code is Nicolbay. You're welcome.

Note - these are not Audible-level, beautifully produced masterpieces. These are people who love these books reading with varying levels of technical skill. The Belgian group that actually sang the songs from The Jungle Book, however, gets kudos from me. But it's free and you can get an Amazon gift card with 200 points, so.....
