A website rounded up all the Top 10 lists they could find from various media sources, smashed 'em together in a big spreadsheet, and spit out overall Top 10 lists for the year'sbest books of 2017. Below are the results (and I included a link to the article which describes their methodology in coming up with the list scoring). I read #4 & #5 - both were very good, so I approve their inclusion. FYI

10. David Grann — 'Killers Of The Flower Moon'
9. Min Jin Lee — 'Pachinko'
8. Patricia Lockwood — 'Priestdaddy'
7. Carmen Maria Machado — 'Her Body And Other Parties'
6. Elif Batuman — 'The Idiot'
5. Jennifer Egan — 'Manhattan Beach'
4. Celeste Ng — 'Little Fires Everywhere'
3. Mohsin Hamid — 'Exit West'
2. George Saunders — 'Lincoln In The Bardo'
1. Jesmyn Ward — 'Sing, Unburied, Sing'

I should also point out that 7 out of 10, including #1, were written by Women. Nice!

Good point Keith! Scored a copy of Lincoln in the Bardo at the white elephant. I can’t wait to dive in.

Tanya (tanya712) | 238 comments 7 out of 10, I’d say that’s an impressive showing for the woman authors.

Hopefully success like this leads to Publishers not just being more open to women authors, but also being more supportive in recruiting and promoting.
