I’m hoping I’ll finally get around to reading Middlesex in 2018. I’m pretty sure that was an OBC read at some point.

Sarah wrote: "I’m hoping I’ll finally get around to reading Middlesex in 2018. I’m pretty sure that was an OBC read at some point."It was & it's really good! If you do choose this one, I hope you like it as much as I did!
It just so happens that I'm leading a read-along of Anna Karenina in January, so that makes this prompt a no brainer. Now I just have to get through the book!
I loved this book! The Deep End of the OceanDeep End of the Ocean. It was her first book for the book club.
I think I am going to take this opportunity to finally read something by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Opinions on One Hundred Years of Solitude vs. Love in the Time of Cholera?
Song of Solomon is also on my 18 to Read in 2018 list I made for myself and it's an Oprah pick so that was easily sorted!

Here is a complete list of the selections: https://static.oprah.com/images/o2/20...This may be the simplest challenge yet, because the list is finite and there is no ambiguity about whether a book fits the category!
Two of the titles that I've been wanting to read for a while are The Bluest Eye and Sula, both by Toni Morrison.
I'm probably going to read Behold the Dreamers for this. Other Oprah books I haven't read yet but am interested in are Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, Night, and The Poisonwood Bible. For anyone who hasn't read it yet, I would definitely recommend Sula as well.

I've read so many of these! I have to say: Fall on Your Knees was one of my favorites. Highly recommend.
Was The Hate U Give an Oprah Book Club selection? I see it was on the "O, The Oprah Magazine" best of 2017 list... Does that count? It's been on my TBR for quite a while now.

Caught between Here on Earth and A Fine Balance -- but I can use A Fine Balance for a couple of my other tasks, so I think I'm leaning toward the Hoffman here.

This is what I'm hoping to do...It's been in my TBR pile for some time, so I am glad to have an extra nudge to dive into it!

I'll do Breath, Eyes, Memory. It's been on my TBR. I skimmed the GR Oprah list, and saw that I've only read about five. Bill Cosby is on there, though. *shudders*
I run a book club at my library and we were already set to read The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead in a few months, so I'm going to use that for this category. I am starting the audio book today.
I've read several of these books in the past and a few I'd recommend are Measure of a Man, The Road, and House of Sand and Fog.
“The Underground Railroad” is a good idea. I am also thinking of “Poisonwood Bible” by Barbara Kingsolver
I bought Sula in a local thriftshop just before christmas, but I haven't had time to read it yet. That will be my pick.

To everyone thinking of reading East of Eden, do it! It’s long but in a way that makes it worth it.Poisonwood Bible and House of Sand and Fog are also very good.
By luck, my first book of the year was Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, which I loved and belatedly remembered was an Oprah book.
Kate wrote: "I think I am going to take this opportunity to finally read something by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Opinions on One Hundred Years of Solitude vs. Love in the Time of Cholera?"I absolutely hated love in the time of cholera

Yikes... it might be One Hundred Years of Solitude, after reading all these "hated"s combined with a few reviews of Love in the Time of Cholera. Thanks, all!
Has anyone successfully found a book from Oprah's Book Club that can cover more than one category in the Read Harder Challenge?
Naitasia wrote: "Has anyone successfully found a book from Oprah's Book Club that can cover more than one category in the Read Harder Challenge?"Off the top of my head I would note The Road (a western and classic of genre fiction) and A Fine Balance (Brics and post colonial), The Measure of a Man (celebrity memoir) I am sure there are tons of others.
