Jennifer (jennifer_heigl) | 1 comments I find myself on a regular basis running into folks who are interested in running their own catering business or restaurant. Is it the reality TV? Is the Food Network to blame?

Here's an insider secret - it's not as romantic as it seems! But it sure is fun!

Get the inside scoop of what really happens behind the scenes! Career Diary of a Caterer is a 30-day, conversational look at the ups and downs of running an award-winning catering service! Each diary entry details company activities and concludes with a daily lesson for combating problems with your own catering operation. Perfect for culinary students, foodies, and anyone with a food service dream!

Carol Odell | 1 comments I write to make things real. Without setting ink to paper, it all feels like wisps of smoke. Don't meant to sound poetic here, but my thoughts, dreams worries, what ifs all seem temporary without pinning/penning them to the page.
I also write to spare my family and friends my overactive ramblings. I think I'd wear everybody out if I didn't have a journal, a short story or a novel going. My characters take on my lies, dramas, farces, and I can figure out life by making a life.

In the case of my book, Mothering Mother, I wrote to capture "us"--my mother and me. I knew she wouldn't be here much longer, and I needed a place to put us. I wrote about our fights, her fears, my fears of dying, about our complex history and our relentless, surprising love.

I needed to figure out how to be her daughter and her caregiver--and still be a wife, mother, friend, and woman. It was all too much for my head, but on the page, I could sort and figure it out and keep all the "me's" separate.
