These are our first ones. It takes some getting used to! We will have had them a couple of weeks tomorrow. It's a lot of fun, but because we have them at home it has changed my daily rhythm quite a lot.

Ours are not as pretty (read: clean) as those in the pictures :) Our lovely mare has a mustache! Ha!

Randomly: I'm finishing City of Dragons and I'm sorry Petrik, but I'm with Niki. I am loving Rain Wilds just as much as I love the other Elderling series. I can see how the love stories can be annoying to some, but I actually love even the petty love triangle (and love triangles are usually my biggest book pet peeves).

Also, I'm almost done with Iron and Magic and I might love it more than Kate Daniels (though that might just be me coming off of a new book high.

When's the deadline for entering points? I think I'm behind with entering the books I've read so far this month. This is the last month that counts right?

Aaah, the love triangle annoyed the heck out of me, but I still enjoyed the Rain Wild Chronicles (but not as much as the rest of Hobb's series) because: 1. Dragons and 2. Elderling city

I'm so happy you're liking Iron and Magic; it's on par with KD #7 and #9 for me. Hugh is such a fantastic character, it's great he's having his own series :)

I know. Not what I would have expected from her. But in true Robin Hobb fashion, she can make even something as horrible as a love triangle bearable to read. Do I wish it was resolved already so we could move on? Of course. But there's a lot of brilliant characters who all get screen time so it's not like it's the main focus of the book, so it's not as bad as it could be.

That's what makes it different for me. In my experience, the characters are just unsupervised brats on full throttle STD hunt and the romance utterly were the main focus of the book (especially in the second book oh my fucking god, gave it 1 star upon finishing in a heartbeat.)

I read a little bit what Sanderson said about book #6. I started the series already knowing there was a sixth book, but Sanderson apparently kept it secret until the release of book 5! He planned to do this from the beginning, teasing people with a 'secret project' that most assumed was Mistborn: Secret History but it was Alcatraz #6 all along :O

The "STD hunt" (bahaha) in RW didn't bother me because of how Hobb writes characters. They always feel human... real... like you could actually be looking in on an actual reality, if that makes sense. Those teens seemed to do exactly what real people would've done within those circumstances. Character flaws are what make the series so poignant and beautiful to me.

But y'all know how much I adore all things Elderling, anyway haha.

Incidentally, I remembered the teen shenanigans, but while reading my attention and main takeaway was always on the dragons and the other characters, so it didn't really stick out much as more than just a few uncomfortable scenes until it became a topic for good discussion haha.

Goes once again to show just how subjective reading are! I just read Skullsworn and the romance there absolutely didn't bother me at all. In fact, I think this is Staveley's best work!
