Great job, captain!And thanks, Veronica! :)
(Just realized we only have one more month to go. Time goes by so fast!)
Help me... book 9 of Malazan is a complete snoozefest. I fell asleep 5 times. It's so ridiculously boring... if this weren't the penultimate installment, I would've DNFed the series. I'm 60% through and my rating so far is 1.5 stars. Erikson usually has great conclusion so maybe there's some rewarding things to look forward to. Maybe...Sorry, had to rant here because I just woke up from falling asleep again.

I'm 60% throug..."Book 9 was definitely my least favorite in the series! Way to many uninteresting characters und plotlines and the characters I still found interesting didn't get enough screentime.
I don't want to steal your motivation further but there is no really satisfying conclusion in this one as it's meant to be part one of one giant book. The last quarter of the book picked up a little bit, though, if that helps you.
Still: *sends virtual motivation boost* you can do it, Petrik, don't give up now!!!

I think I can do it. I have 20% left. After falling asleep once for each chapter, I finally have only 4 more chapters left!!

When 4 chapters of a 1000+ pages book equal 20% you know you're dealing with a SE-book 😂
All my family and friends are out of town, and it was raining today. So, instead of curling on the couch with a good book, I got to my desk with my faithful computer and went into a GR-organization frenzy:- established, with Karishma, how the 'One Story a Day' bookclub will work;
- researched online magazines providing short stories for free;
- compiled a list of 80+ stories, each with a link to read it online;
- created ebooks of those stories with unified formatting so I can read 'em on my Kindle;
- heavily modified my spreadsheet to facilitate future entries;
- went through my entire TBR and, for each 'first-in-series' in it, identified if the series is complete or still ongoing;
- created (and filled) shelves for standalones, anthologies and 'under 100 pages'.
I think I have a problem....

It's kinda fucked up when you think about it. This 4 chapter are more than 200 pages long xD SE doesn't seem to know how chapter is used... xD

You should come over to my house and do mine too!
Or else you have my incomplete series tracker which is incomplete - finish it - I will give you editing rights 😜

On that note, I just finished book 9! woohoooo. Will start the last book tomorrow!

Well, to be fair, I've obsessed about all that for a crazy (and unhealthy) amount of time: I've had insomnia for a few nights now. Instead of gently going to sleep, my brain makes me re-organize all GR-related things, re-think the entire layout of my apartment, budget the next three months, list everything I have to create/fix, etc.
Exhausting....
Petrik wrote: "On that note, I just finished book 9! woohoooo. Will start the last book tomorrow!"Great job! That was quite fast for a snoozefest :O

@Virginie - oh dang, sorry to hear awesomeness came from something exhausting and stressful. I feel you on that right now, actually.
@Petrik- waaahooooooooo!!

Thanks!
It was ok, I liked it but it didn't blow me away either. You definitely have to like grimdark to enjoy it (which I normally do, and I know quite a few people here love this trilogy)

I noticed Jenna keep recommending this series so I'm def going to give it a try at some point. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Grimdark; sometimes I greatly enjoy the sarcastic humour and 'realistic' view of the world, and sometimes, I can't stand the bleakness and gruesome descriptions.
🤔

Hi Miche!
We miss you! Have fun doing 'non-reader activities' ;)

Oh, that's good to know! I was expecting to like it more because a lot of people here did. Hopefully book two will be better :)

Yeah, definitely give it a try!

As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters. I know we all love books here but, even so, there are other worthy things to do in life too. We'll leave a light on for you. ;-)

Hear2!
After looking at the new rules and thinking about it. I have decided to join next year team competition again! Hopefully will see some of you in my next team! :D
YAY! I'm already reserving the right to tinker with your scoresheet, whether we end up in the same team or not.:D

As your subject I'm claiming the right for my scoresheet to be designed by you too! (You're waiting to do that anyway, aren't you? ;) )
