@everyone who commented on my picture: Believe it or not, but I complained all the time about our village's isolation as a kid. I would say "What are we even living HERE?!?" to my parents... I'm only realizing now, after moving around a little bit for my studies, how lucky I was.

I'm in for that. I've never been to Greece. It's on my short list of most want to visit travel destinations. Oh, who am I kidding. Even my short list is a very very long list.

That's beautiful! I love the South of France! We went on holiday there about six years ago and I loved every second. Despite what everything says about the French, everyone was really warm and welcoming!
We live in a tiny village now. No shops, no take-aways, no nothing. I have to drive 15 minutes to the nearest supermarket. My daughter's school has 45 kids in total! She's going to hate it when she's older :)
I was born and lived in Brazil up to my early twenties. From there I moved to Canada, then to Germany, then to France and then I came back to Canada. :)I love living in Canada, but I miss Germany. Maybe one day I will move back. ;)

From one who lives in Germany, it's a mixed bag for me. It might be because I am in the middle of nowhere (no sea, no mountains, no lake); after 5 years here, I am starting to miss these amenities.
I am more and more annoyed by the tendency of lack of flexibility of the locals.
Said so, Germany (and some Germans) offers a lot.

1st of all: holy shit on that traffic. I'll never complain about mine ever again lol.

I know how that goes - I did a lot of my growing in a little Podunk town called Oak City. Nice place to play as a kid, for sure, but holy cow was it small and isolated. Looking back though I much preferred that to busy Denver suburbs.

That is soooo cool to me. You've lived in so many places I'd love to visit. Mind me asking what took you to different countries? I'd never be brave enough to just pack up and move around like that (maybe because finances caused my fam to move around a lot when I was a kid. I think I had attended 10 different schools by the time I hit the 8th grade. Probably a strong reason why I now crave stability and familiarity lol).

Btw, sorry for the comment spamming. I keep reading all of the comments when I'm on my phone, but then forgetting to actually type them when I get back to the computer. And I'm not even going to bring up the folder crisis...
It's so cool how we have so many readers from across the globe! Although I lived a few years in Japan as a young child, I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, so Niki I can understand that 115 degree heat. Oh yes, I know well the scorching pavement and scalding hot seatbelt buckles. I moved back to Japan about 10 years ago, Funnily enough, I went straight from the desert to Aomori, the snowiest place on earth.
Also, I updated my sheet with another BR. :)It was so nice to reread this one. I laughed, I cried. Appreciated new lines as well as beloved old ones.

@Niki: Don't worry! I won't feel bad about my comment spamming as well then! Also, I thought of you and the Folder Crisis of '18 today. I finally started my internship. The construction site I'll be affected to is not active yet, so I'm helping around several others. My first thought when I saw how badly the documentation was being managed: "Niki would have a heart attack if she ever saw this". LOL.
(I organized more than 2000 documents in 3 days. A bit tedious, but everyone loves me now hahaha)

I'm also counting my mangas for the competition. Usually worth 0.5 points each, but... Every point counts, right? :)

Yeah, that photo is in the mountains, but even in town the snowbanks get pretty ridiculous so you can't see oncoming traffic. It's beautiful though, with snow lanterns and ice sculptures and such.@Virginie Maybe we should have a cruise ship take off from FBR Island and make a world tour? You could even match your reading to the locale, reading Nnedi Okorafor in Nigeria, Liu Cixin in China, and Andrzej Sapkowski in Poland.
Ooh! Everyone, do you have any recommended books from your region?
@Niki, since I was a little kid I wanted to travel. My sister backpacked in Europe in the early 90's for a few months and receiving her postcards ignited a desire to travel and to see all that with my own eyes. Since then I decided that I would start my own adventure as soon as I could. The first move was a big decision as to leave my family and friends behind was hard. But once I got used to the situation it was just a matter of deciding where I wanted to live next. ;)
@Melissa, I am hoping to visit Japan this year or the next one. I had started to study some Japanese, but I slacked and forgot all, lol. I really want to go to at least Tokyo and Osaka. :)

That's an awesome traveling log. Hubby and I used to travel a lot. We'd try to do at least 2 trips a year, one nationally and one internationally. Our international travel has greatly decreased after having kids, though now that they're not babies any more we've been able to leave them with grandparents and got to do an extended international adult trip last year and this year.

I lived in Italy (Milan and Rome) before and I had a brief (one-year) Chicago love at first sight!
So, no I did not live abroad a lot but some!

I went to Japan about one year ago, mostly visiting Tokyo, Kyoto (beautiful!), Hiroshima and Fukuoka. I feel in love with the country and the culture; it is so interesting and unique.
My boyfriend actually lived in Japan before and speaks Japanese so it was a comfortable trip for me. I am considering studying Japanese. This is how appealing it is to me!

Japan is another country that's on my short list. I love the kimonos and gardens. And fresh sushi every day. And I'm a huge fan of anime. Really really really want to go to Japan.
Miche - that is such a cool sequence of events. It's so cool that you were inspired to travel and then made opportunities for yourself. I'm such a shameless homebody that I'm just going to live vicariously through you from now on lol.
Melissa - and FBR cruise ship from out island is a superb idea. We'll just make it run the route continually lol. I'd be interested to hear some diverse recommends too. :)
I'm seriously going to adapt that concept into a book haha.

Japanese is literally the only other language I've studied. Watashi wa Niki desu.
Japan is somewhere I'd love to see too.

@Miche: I am so impressed by your travels. It must have taken a lot of courage to leave your homeland!
@Melissa: Yes, yes yes, I love the idea of an FBR cruise! and since everyone seems to want to go there.... First stop: Japan! ^^@Niki: I studied Japanese as well! For 2 years I think. I forgot everything BUT food-related vocabulary :P
Today was a very slow day at work. The construction site is not active yet, I don't have the time to familiarize myself with another project so I was basically sitting there, doing nothing, waiting for my meeting with the project manager at 5pm.SO, I decided to retrieve some PDF's from the company's servers and read:
Essential Excel 2016: A Step-by-Step Guide
Instant Revit!: A Quick and Easy Guide to Learning Autodesk(r) Revit(r) 2017
BIM and Construction Management: Proven Tools, Methods, and Workflows
Total tally: 13.3 points.
Well, at least my nerdy tendencies are helping the team lol!
@Miche Wow, all those experiences must have been amazing. I hadn't heard about being an au pair until just recently, and alas I think I'm too old for it now. I would love to spend a couple years in Europe like that. Or someday take a couple months to do the backpacking thing.
Wow guys, I'm so happy about all the love for Japan! Niki, Miche, Virginie, I didn't realize you've studied Japanese. Aristea that would be cool if you tried learning it as well. We can use it for all secret communications for the トームレイダーズ.@Aristea That must have been such a cool trip to take with your boyfriend! I live up north, but have traveled in the south as well. I think Hiroshima is such a beautiful city with its parks and trolleys.
If they rest of you guys ever do come to Japan, even without a Japanese-speaking travel partner, it's such a convenient country to navigate. I tell my friends who visit, that if they ever get lost, just stand around in one spot looking confused and someone will likely come up to help you. Also, you should visit the north as well, there is so much to see outside of Tokyo. Temples and festivals, boating through scenic gorges and hot springs in the mountains. Seriously I have all the recommendations. I'll show you around. :)
I've studied Japanese a bit because of my love for anime and video games but even without them, like Melissa said, someone will help you when you looked super lost, it's really a great and safe place!I haven't visit anywhere outside Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto though. One day I will! :D
I'm too lazy to type out the whole shpeal right now, but finished Ready Player One (6.6 points) and Midnight Crossroad (5.5 points) last night.

I secretly chuckle every time I say something is "nice". Yup, I'm that childish ;)
I haven't seen much of Europe. I visited the Scandinavian countries a little the last 2 years, stunning landscapes there. Very cold too :p
I've always wanted to visit Greece though...
Let's do a Tome Readers Europe trip! :D :D :D
