Niki Hawkes wrote: "Miche and I are really excited to read that one. :)"About time, seriously. It's been a year since I became a walking advertisement for that series xD
Yeah I've basically become the same haha. I finished Wrath and was basically harassing my wife to start reading them. Needless to say, it's a month later and she's almost done with Ruin ;]. She's loving them.

Liam wrote: "But the redemption arcs are so beautiful 😭😭😭.But really, I can honestly agree with that haha. Sanderson's villains are not usually quite as incredible as other aspects of his books, and while I love a good redemption story, a really solid villain does *wonders* for a book series."
I LOVE a fleshed-out and solid villain! Got any other recs of books/series with characters to hate? :)

Oddly enough, Michael Sullivan has some EXCELLENT villains in his books. I had more than a few issues with his writing, but he was just so good at his characters that I consider him to be a favorite. If you haven't read Riyria Revelations give that series a shot =].
Yes Virginie - sometime in May is the start date and we're going one every other month I think. Happy to have you join! :D

I think the Liveship Traders series is my favorite by Hobb.
And with those points, you just went up to n°2 within the team ;)
That's great to hear, Virginie. I'm actually super surprised by how much I enjoyed the first book, hopefully the second and third book will continue to do so!

Woohoo, great job!!
Good job all of you! I was having fun gaming with friends this week, so I slacked on my reading. It was a good break. The Shadow Rising put me in a bit of a slump.
Diana Stormblessed wrote: "Yay! Hoping to finish A Darker Shade of Magic tonight, too.Side note: love your new pic."
Thanks! A Darker Shade of Magic was a quick read. I'm a bit disappointed though. It's a OK-read but the hype was so strong.... What did you think?
You're in for a treat with Ship of Magic. I'm with Petrik here, it's a brilliant book.
Side note: my brother was hounding me to change my pic 'cause "if you're going to have a cat picture, at least have a REAL one!" lol. Thank you for liking it :)

Ooooh, gaming times are awesome!
I usually end up in a mini-slump too after finishing a big fat book ;)
(Sanderson is the only exception)

I agree that Darker Shade of Magic is overhyped. I'm at probably 75% right now. I think it's ok but nothing too special. I'm excited to start Ship of Magic cuz I loved the Farseer Trilogy and so far that's the only thing I read by her. Want to see how her other books go.
Ship of Magic is fantastic, Diana! Better than Farseer for sure imo. I'm reading the sequel and it only gets better and better! For me.. Darker Shade of Magic trilogy is the WORST trilogy I've ever read; literally the number one worst trilogy.

Lol, that's some glowing praise. I'm excited to start it.

Wow, and here I was, hoping the Shades of Magic trilogy would get better...
Glad you like the sequel of Ship of Magic though. I re-read all 16 books of the Realm of the Elderlings last year, and enjoyed them even more this time around.
Seriously. Someone take my job and family away for about a week and let me catch up with my books lol
Sorry for being a slacker, I updated my list :). Some people on there are totally cheating on other teams. Some have like 50 books in the spreadsheet that they haven't even read yet (just plan too) =P It means we aren't that far behind!
Justin wrote: "Sorry for being a slacker, I updated my list :). Some people on there are totally cheating on other teams. So adding in books is totally ok as long as you leave the date blank :-)

Hi Justin! Welcome to the challenge!! :D
A few others retroactively added books from the start of the year to their challenges, so based on that I'm going to say it's okay to do that. :) given another couple of months that might not be the case, be we're good now.

Sorry I've been off the map. Been real busy. For the record, even though it wasn't the best series I've ever read, I definitely enjoyed darker shade more than Petrik. ;P Especially the second book.
And with Justin joining us, we just passed 1000 points! :D(We're behind but I don't care! Go Team! :P)
We are still going to win! :) we just like to be the underdogs. Everybody likes the underdogs more right?
Justin wrote: "We are still going to win! :) we just like to be the underdogs. Everybody likes the underdogs more right?"I always root for the underdog. I root harder when the underdog is me ;-)

Hahaha! Yup, that's the spirit! :p

I'll go in the second book with low expectations. I can only be pleasantly surprised that way, right? :)
Oh excellent! Welcome Aristea...with cakes and cookies and coffee and whatnot...
And of course MANY of these...
