Alexander Grant | 7 comments Hello,
I need a librarian's help with my books and would appreciate guidance on how to deal with my problems:
1) My books THE FORBIDDEN CITY and THE LION PROPHECY have been republished (new publisher-Createspece) with new covers. Yet Goodreads shows the old covers. Could you please guide me on how to post the new covers?
2) I do not know how to link my new book, THE LION'S PERIL, in the KING'S LION series. It is already linked on Amazon ( but not on Goodreads. How can I link it?
Thank you.

(and the kindle was moved by someone not mentioning it here)
I'll look into the alternate cover editions...

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 6177 comments Goodreads policy is to keep all published covers on the site, as users want to shelve the cover of the copy they have. Instead, we add an alternate-cover edition.

alternate cover edition for kindle #2:
paperback #2: that has still the old cover on amazon so no update yet

kindle #1
paperback #1 same as with #2 still the old one listed

As the author, you have the ability to change which edition of the book is the default, which will come up in searches by title and show on your author profile. Here are the instructions: How to change the default edition

Alexander Grant | 7 comments Thank you very much. I want to replace the old covers with the new ones and not to post alternate covers. How can I do that?

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 6177 comments see my now finished posting directly over yours ;) (that was at the same time it seems).
GR does not delete older covers so they have to stay in the database and will keep the ASIN assigned to them.
see here and here for further information

If you can tell us the exact date of the cover change we can add that to the alternate editions as they always get the pub date when this cover was published and not the original one.

Alexander Grant | 7 comments Thank you very much for your kind assistance. I apologise for the late reaction but I was in bad health and unable to work. I see a button 'Combine' under the titles. I suppose it gives the option to combine both editions of my books but I have two worries:
1) If I press combine which cover will be displayed?
2) If I press combine, will the reviews and ratings show or they will appear only on the old edition?
I might be wrong about the way I have understood everything and I apologise for my ignorance.

Sandra | 23236 comments Alexander, the combine button leads to the edit page.

The way GR works is to combine all reviews etc against all combined books, so no they don't stay with any particular cover.

There are 2 ways GR works regarding covers. First, the default cover is the one that is shelved most often by the readers; OR Secondly, you the author can decide which cover you want to see in searches etc.

Detailed instructions for you to decide which cover you want as the default, have been linked in Msg #3 & #5 by Lachgas above.

Librarians can't edit the default cover, so if you have problems you'll need to contact support.
