When adding a new book edition with another language, sometimes it makes several author pages and I don't know how to fix it in a few needed steps.
For example, today I added this book (in Arabic) :

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

then I added the original author name (in English) but couldn't combine the two editions together.

Later, I found that there is an extra space between when I delete it, it caused a mess!

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Why this happened? how to fix it?

(Goodreads needs to be more flexible when editing books details.)
Thank you.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 6188 comments The fix was easy. Adding the correct amount of spaces to the author name (3 in total). Deleting spaces is never a good idea until you are 100% sure what you're doing. GR uses this spaces to distinguish between authors with the same name so if you remove some books go to a totally different profile as before.
but yes, that's a bit more difficult for non librarians as the spaces are not shown on the profile pages.

I moved the book and combined it with the original edition.

(sidenote: I'm irritated by the 2 one space profiles - they shouldn't even exist and as it'snot the first time I saw that I'll carry that to the Feedback group now)
