~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 5 comments Author Sarah Pinsker had the page for her short story, "And Then There Were (N-one)" somehow deleted. While I know there was likely no ISBN for the page, given that it was a story in a magazine, I wanted to see if there is a way to restore it because it had several very good reviews attached to it that she would like to get back (a new edition has since been added by a different librarian, but it has none of the previous info). The cache for the page before it was removed is here: https://webcache.googleusercontent.co...

lethe | 13747 comments Short stories that were only published in magazines should not be added to the database. So no, it should not be restored and the new add will also be deleted.

UNLESS it is allowed because it is freely available online: https://uncannymagazine.com/article/a...

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

BTW, restoring a deleted edition is not something librarians can do, and I'm not sure staff can do it, either.

Short stories only published as part of a magazine are not considered books on Goodreads, regardless of whether they are accessible in an e-version of the magazine.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 6188 comments and if the deletion is done correctly the reviews are getting merged into the magazine the short story is in so they won't get lost.

That assumes the magazine exists (and should) on Goodreads, which is often not the case.

Thanks for the clarification.

yes, that was the assumption (in all these tons of magazine it seems high likely it is in the databse(although some probablyshouldn't be there) - this one has an ASIN https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... so it's allowed isn't it?

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 5099 comments For the OP - there are reviews for Pinkser's story here. :)

Re 7: It does appear to be a valid Kindle edition.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 5 comments Thank you very much, everyone. I know individual stories shouldn't have individual listings, I just don't want my friend to lose her good reviews.

Special for thanks for that link, Carol. Before I left my post here, I went looking to see if the reviews had been merged with the magazine edition but was having no luck. I'll let her know she can still find them.
