C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4216 comments You have until the 25th of October to post a poem and from the 26th to around the 30th of October, we’ll vote for which one we thought was best!

Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a poem previously used in this group. Only one submission per person is allowed.

Your poem can be of any length!

This week’s topic is: Still Waters

Thanks goes to Anne for suggesting the topic!

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Most of all have fun!

Shatter me
Give me anything
I will accept
Your flaws.

Breathe into me
Darling
I welcome
Your claws.

Speak
Scream
Don’t leave
Me.

I grew in resentment
You festered in silence
I need you
You don’t.

Destroy me.

When the rains leave
and you are thankful
for long, idle rest
after tempestuous winds
and daily deluges

When you warm yourself
into a pool of tranquility
basking and baking
until you turn
peace into stagnation

When bacteria bubbles
into your daily routines
and your accomplices
are mostly mosquitos
and leeches

When you start to feel
yourself bogged by
acrid green slime
oozing across every
inch of your depths

Then you’ll find that the storms aren’t so bad,
And you pray for their power,
that you will become a body
that flows and grows with the season
when the rains come.

I lost too many
in the past
and thought
I was losing again
but you’re my calm
in which I can relax
my still waters
I can always float in."

Lovely.

Love the line-breaks in this. Almost feels like being rocked in waves until the very last line.

Poet : Edward Davies

The river runs, the river flows,
The river takes and gives
The river drowns, the river knows
Who dies and then who lives

The river’s still, the river’s wild
The river gives and takes
The river judges like a child
Our deadliest mistakes
