Joni | 622 comments A co-worker recommended this book to me because I needed some quick but good to listen to.

I really loved JD's story. How he didn't let being poor stop him. How his grandparents wanted more for him than they had for themselves. The one thing that really stood out for me was during his elementary years, he was upset that he didn't know multiplication, yet. Someone else did and he didn't. He went home that day and learned it.....from his grandpa. Each day his grandpa worked with him on math. He loved that challenge. And how his grandma read to him each day and taught him the value of reading. He was taught the value of learning.

I think this book speaks to me in the sense that don't let being poor hold you back from achieving what you set to do in your life.
